I’m back.. steering issue.

Well, after replacing the shredded serpatine belt pulleys everything was well for 250 miles after that.. until today on the freeway lost complete power steering. Checked to see if belt, still good.

I have noticed steering seemed slightly stiffer at random times before this happened and thought my pump is on its way out. 141k miles 09 335i.

After inspecting around. I noticed this. Looks like the joint popped out? What the heck? This car is babied, it’s not tuned. Only had a stage 1 tune on it for 20k miles, the down pipes have never been removed. What I’m getting at is no hard driving in this vehicle. Is this normal? What is the best way to fix this, assuming this is my culprit?

Drove the vehicle home after work about 12 miles was fine just needed some grunt 😂

Is this what they call the coupling? Which part exactly is this and does it look off? Can just the coupling be replaced?

I’m gonna have jack front end up and get a better look with under pan off.. sounds Like it could be steer shaft joint? Anyone familiar with this?

Driving around today. Steering wheel seemed like it was somewhat working intermetentally for a few seconds off and on. So maybe it’s not that unjoint that’s slipped out? Maybe it’s acually pump.

Yeah this is weird I don’t know what’s going on.. it came back today.. still isn’t 100% like iffy on braking and expecially braking on turns. Seems to stumble.. got be the pump…? I just did the turkey baster method and put fresh chf 11 s in because I felt the stumbling and thought I needed change fluid or pump was bad.

It's probably the PS pump, or the belt is slipping. Have you checked the oil level. Have you checked the tensioner is not frozen or binding?

The steering shaft looks fine.

I sure hope it’s The pump and not the shaft. Pump I feel is something I’ll be able do myself. I just did the belts and tensioner and pulleys. All seems fine there, BUT I have not checked to see if it’s binding or frozen, I’ll double check that. Oil level is fine, I acually just did a flush with turkey Baster method drained and filled about 5 times with fresh chf11s do this about every 2 years.

Weird thing is power steering completely went out the day of my post and now it has came back but it’s very like almost laggy, stiff like during braking and harder turning.
