Question about an alarm (Not a complaint thread!)
After being bored enough to look over the last 5-6 pages of threads, I stumbled upon a thread where someone was upset that the car doesnt come with an alarm. My first thought was shock, as even I didnt know that it didn't come with one. Sure, its not under the standard features less, but I figured it was a pretty "duh" feature, as I dont recall my family or I having a car without an alarm (including my mom's old E39). But thats not the point.
I'm wondering if it'd be possible to get an aftermarket alarm (viper/avantgarde) and wire that to the "pre-wired" setup instead. I am definitely going to miss the "chirp" after I lock the doors (otherwise i'll be paranoid the whole time). But since I wanted to get a real-deal aftermarket system that warned me if a window was broken/shock sensor, etc, perhaps this is the perfect setup to get the job done. In addition, can remote start be setup? I know the whole key setup is pretty advanced. My car is non-CA.

It's hard to find an aftermarket alarm that will allow your key to be programmed with it. I tried many alarm installation shops....and they all said if I wanted to get a aftermarket alarm, I'd have to carry around an extra part for the alarm.
