PA has been having a real winter so far; cold, snowy and windy with temperatures far lower than they've been in previous years. I'm right outside Philadelphia - this year it's been common for it to be in the 10-20*F and go down to single digits at night (and we had several zero/negative days). Also we've had quite a bit of snow; I'm used to it melting but it won't budge this year because it has yet to get 'warm' for more than a day or two at a time. We've had almost no snow at all for the last few years.

For reference I'd normally consider 25*F as 'cold' and the 30's normal in this area.

I too am getting pretty irritated by this. Today is supposed to be around 60°, tomorrow a high of 32° and low of 14°. Following day says a low of -4° here in NC. I just want to start riding the cycle to work again, must be too much to ask.

Fuck you planet earth. That is all.

75 today.
Low 30s High 20s Tuesday/Wednesday. Ice and light snow warnings.

With as bad as the drivers here currently drive in good conditions, I can't wait to see how they drive in ice/snow.

Honestly, we could use a little rain here in SoCal. This Winter has been almost like the Summer.

That is pretty much how the winter always is for us around here. The temps were in the 50's last week until we got snow on Thursday. The temps were back up into the low 60's over the weekend before some more snow came through yesterday. Temps will be in the 30's today and up into the 50's again for the next couple of days. I'll take the variety over constant cold and snowy weather.

My wife's firm headquarters is in Pensacola and their office is shut down today and tomorrow.

They are a CPA firm and it's busy season! What a bunch of pussies.

Agreed, it's snowing in MS today. Schools are all closed, Facebook is lit up, people running out to buy water and firewood and I still had to drive 140 miles to work. People don't know how good they have it down here.

Seriously, schools and businesses will close down if it is cold and raining? I wonder if anyone is in our Houston office today. Talk about a difference in preparedness and expectations for different geographical regions. Out here, we're pretty much expected to be at work when the snow accumulation is anything less than a foot.

yeah, Houston isn't built to handle freezing rain...

Houston is a major metropolitan area whereas we consider Denver a small town - people's commutes are further here in the 4th biggest city in the nation...

Houston has as many people in it as the ENTIRE state of Colorado, so you can imagine....

this is our second "freezing rain" closure within the last 4 days...

freezing rain is worse than actual snow, because snow sticks to the ground...

freezing rain hits the ground and creates a layer of frozen ice on roads and bridges......

That doesn't really matter, it has everything to do with equipment and safety.

It's the same here in NC and we're not a major metropolitan area. In places like ours, they don't waste taxpayer money on snow/ice removal equipment that they might use once every 5 years or more, so it's just better to close things down for safety reasons.

Besides, the idiots here in NC can't even drive in the rain let alone the snow or ice...
