And wasnt the next fuel duty increase to be a 5p increase, (which has now been scrapped thankfully!).

Some people are never happy. You would moan if it went up and you are moaning as it's come down.

It could have been better, but on the whole not bad.

The biggest surprise was the increase in AMAP's, which has not changed since 2002

The rate for the first 10K mls has gone up 5p to 45p,shame the lower rate of 25p stayed the same, but I'm a happy bunny

Think it was due to go up 4p per litre, so a net result of 5p

They did say though that in last six months petrol has gone up 20p per litre

And what's to stop the oil companies passing on the cost of their increased tax bill to the end user?

Have you been tracking the price with petrolprices.com? It went up 5p in the past 3 weeks anyway!

Nothing. Indeed they already have by the looks of things.

Driving up the A1 yesterday, I passed 3 Shell garages who were all charging 137.9 for diesel. Driving back this afternoon the same garages were all at 139.9 for diesel.

DO I LOOK F@@KING STUPID!!!!

Can't win.

The problem I have with all of this though is that a few years ago, 80% of the cost of a liter of fuel was tax. Today that number of 60%

Out of the 20p per liter that fuel has risen in the last 12 months, most of that cost rise is NOT tax.

Yet we seem to be happy giving the government a hard time when it's the oil companies taking the pi$$

I think a 1p reduction in duty is taking the piss. It's an insult.

Do it properly or don't f*ckin bother.

They also cancelled the fuel esculator which was set to increase fuel by another 4p by next month.

This country is in the shit bigtime and we all have to suck it up if the economy is set to improve.

I agree its not a lot per litre but nationally the reduction in revenue is huge, hence why the increase in North Sea fuel exploration tax has increased from 20% to 32%.
