Unreasonable Expectations or Turbo Lag?
I recently bought a CPO 2007 335i manual transmission. I owned a 2000 mustang GT before hand so I'm used to NA V8 power. However what I experience in my 335i i can only described as turbo lag. In any gear at any rpm I slam on the gas and it starts to accelerate then about a second later the turbos seem to kick in and the car accelerates faster. I have read extensively on these forums about the know turbo lag problem so I brought the car in last week and asked them to update my car however it feels exactly the same as it did before I brought it in. I thought the whole point of the twin turbo setup was to eliminate turbo lag yet I definitely feel a power lag between when I slam on the gas and when full power seems to be available. Is this to be expected? Do I have unreasonable expectations due to my previous car or do you think my car is suffering from the turbo lag issue?
Thanks in Advance! |

I told them I felt the turbo lag I asked for the update to solve the problem and the SA and invoice says that the update was given to me.
From the service invoice. "C** C/S THERE IS EXCESSIVE TURBO LAG AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSE: SIB# 11-13-07 6100801 PROGRAMMING/ENCODING CONTROL UNITS FC: 1165053900 16388 SIB 11 13 07 WP PER SIB 11 13 07 REPROGRAM COMPLETE VEHICLE AND RETEST" Does the lag I described sound normal? |
