Exclamation Water marks

I have a black bmw and I just got it detailed because of water marks and swirls. I left my car outside for one night and they are all back. What should I do to remove them? Should I change anything in my water system?

Get a water softener. Its the hard water that leaves the marks.

You might want to look into one of these....

http://www.detailedimage.com/CRSpotl...00-Gallons-S1/

After a good wash, make sure the spots are actually removed esp if they are etched in the clear coat - good paint correction - and not just covered up with some wax/polish. Followed by a polish, then seal.

Use Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant after polish. I park at the airport monthly and used to have water spots all the time, drove me nuts, even on my Sparkling graphite 328. I started using this in the Summer and no more water spots after parking at the airport, regardless of the amount of time. Good stuff

+1 to the hard water comment. I see you live in FL so there's likely dirty rain and/or salt in your rain that doesn't agree with the wax/sealant that was used on your car. They make special formulas for seaside parked cars.
Personally, i *couldn't* get rid of my water spots until i took a buffer to the whole car and started over half-ass wax job i had been putting into it the last few years. Now that i use a high quality sealer after a buff, and a few coats of wax after a polish no more water spots...

I have BSM and it may be hard to keep clean but the previous owner washed it once a week and I have continued this throughout my ownership and I have no water spots. Is it hard to keep clean? Certainly... but if you take the initiative to wash it frequently you can keep the paint in pristine condition. It's when the hard rain has time to damage the paint that you run into problems. For me, the look of a freshly cleaned black car is totally worth the once a week wash. Roughly an hour out of 168 (hrs in a week) isn't much to ask for, really.

Been detailing cars since I was 14 years old . Best way to get rid of water spots is to WAIT, yes wait, for the body to cool down, particularly after a drive, or if left outside in the sun. Then wash the car .... at night. Sunlight isn't your friend. I'm talking 9, 10, 11pm. Heck I'll wash my car at 1am. Wipe/dry the car down with microfiber cloths. Then clay the body, followed by a coat of polish like Meguiar's, then one (or two) coats of wax. Best/faster results with an orbital buffer. Didn't I mention doing all this at night? Use detail spray inbetween washes/waxes.

for water spots that won't wash off, spray on solution of 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water... fully wash car, wax.

works like a charm.
