Surely my warranty is not affected by driving the vehicle within its design limits on a suitable surface? I was under the impression that I was covered for 3 years, 60K miles with clauses on fair wear and tear and consumable items
I doubt you'll find a restriction specifically mentioning track days within the warranty T&C's - They wouldnt be that prescriptive as it would introduce a need to specifically define every type of event upon which a warranty claim would not be honoured. BTW beautiful response by Mr Edwards :-) |

To be honest, the question was well beyond Darren - just a general one about whether BMW considers track use to invalidate all or part of your warranty? Or not...
I'd be pretty peeved to hear anything along those lines, especially given the Ring Taxi association etc. |

I believe it does, I can't think of any warranty that would cover track use as it's intended for road (and not racing) i.e. out of remit.
Pretty much the same for all cars I've had to be honest. Although don't hear of it as much because it's usually the insurance you stress about more. Read your T&C's, believe it's in there. Even Dinan power upgrades do not cover any form of track use. |

Well, I had a fantastic time earlier this evening - did a full tank in 2.5 hours!
...small tank in my thing though to be fair. Bedford is a great circuit....bit weird though don't you think - its so flat! Have to say I was not a bit interested in reading reg numbers of the BMW's there- I am not that way inclined guys. Work with them all day long and have done for 14 years.... I was more interested in driving and chatting with my Caterham geek buddies. Have to say though, there are few sounds so great as an M3 CSL on full chat! Have a good weekend! |
