Dinan CAI & Throttle body? Are these custom? Can I order?

Spoke to Dinan regarding the throttle body a couple months ago & told me they don't make it for N52/N51.

They only have the throttle body listed for the 330 (2006) engine, not yours for some reason.

Just to give you guys an update.

We are still putting the car together. Like I said before, my buddy owns the shop and is doing 98% of the work for obvious reasons.
He has a business to run, so that of course comes first. We are hoping to have the car completed in the next couple weeks. I will definitely keep you updated.

Will do, once the car is finished! We have till end of August for the next race, so not in a huge rush, yet.

Rob, are you practicing while you have down time and what is your protocol? Are you still participating in HPDEs or burning back roads? Just wondering how it works once you get the license.

I'm doing private member days at NJMP for testing and tuning, so I'll have at least two of those till August.
HPDEs I've been told are a bit "boring" once you're able to pass without having to wait for a point-bye LOL!
At this point, I'm trying to save up enough money for August at NJMP - possibly 5 races total with the 4 Hour Enduro and 4 seperate sprint races on that weekend. September will be the 4 Hour Enduro at The Glen. November and December may be Sebring and Daytona.
I'm looking into possibly instruct at HPDEs to get some "free" track time.

Update - it's looking REALLY good to have the Z4 out for the races.

One of the guys who has helped out with the team and shop quite a bit will be driving it in the school - advanced group. I'll be racing it on Saturday and Sunday in the sprint races (3 of them).
We're doing some upgrades to the 335 also - suspension and aero

Tried a shakedown this morning at NJMP. Teething problems so we need to spend some time sorting things out before it's race ready. Traction control light was on the entire time and when attempting full throttle the car died.
Hopefully will have some codes to look at and be able to rectify.
Will more than likely be taking the 335 to The Glen next week.

Rob, ever figure out what was wrong with the car? Was it tune related?

Reason I ask is because although your car is race only, I'm wondering if the AA "off-road" tune was successful in removing the CEL related to the headers. I'm thinking about going catless in 2014 but want to know there's a fix out there for it.

I just stopped by Bimmerworks yesterday for the first time in about 2 months (work and holidays were super busy).

Steve thinks it may have something to do with the fact that he didn't have the traction control button installed. He also said within the 6 laps that he did, he was able to get one or two laps where it didn't cut in as much and he ran a 1:18 at Lightning. That was without any suspension setup so we're hopeful we'll be able to get it down to the 1:13 range once it's fully dialed in.
I don't think it was a CEL related issue. He hooked up the computer to diagnose the issue, but nothing came up that he could see.
We're going to start wrapping everything up in February and try to get out onto the track in Marck to test and tune.
As soon as I find anything else out, I'll let you know.

I have been trying a few solutions and I think we found one that works. They are o2 spacers that restrict exhaust flow from the headers and keep the CEL off. GTkrockett has been running them for over 400 miles with no errors.

Nothing yet. We're burried in snow here in PA and he wants to be able to drive the car around the block to get it up to temp and try to diagnose any issues before we take it to the dyno.
Right now, I'm not envisioning that happening till March! Another 12-14 inches of snow on its way doesn't bode well for driving a Z4 with R-comps on the street LOL!

I hope you are joking!

I put my summers on and was caught off guard with a late snow a couple years ago- my car wouldn't get out of the driveway... and it was only 4 or 5 inches of the white stuff, but on the wetter side (like 28-30 degrees). I had to call an employee to come give me a ride to work! And that was with those kuhmo v12s that everyone tries once and plenty of tread, and both my rear wheels spin :d
