Going insane due to drone
Just installed my AE quads and bms DP + JB4 N55 Stage II installed and at 1500-2500 RPM I'm about to or
My thoughts: Either keep the exhaust and get catted dp. Keep the DP and get stock exhaust + secondary cat delete? Any other ideas? EDIT: Maybe add resonators or something? Here is the current set up View My Video View My Video

my eisenmann gives me drone @ 15-2000 rpm but eisenmann sounds way louder and better than AE. do the catless dp + stock exhaust with quad tips will save you some drone.

Let me know if you sell your AE quads. I'm looking for just the section 3 and I can trade you my duals.

Suck it up man. If your gonna do exhaust mods , you gotta anticipate drone. I love my stinky, droning exhaust. Don't get a carted dp as it will be the same as stock basically because xi has one cat in its dp

Hehe, well, I was told drone should not be an issue. I'm not entirely convinced though. Most likely it'll be a tune and a CP for me bro.

In my experience drone comes from the mufflers ... adding a DP didn't do anything to my drone. Inside the cabin will be quieter with the stock DP but that's it, no actual change in drone.
Notice the BMW OEM mufflers, including the BMW Performance exhaust mufflers have the connecting pipe. It's there for a reason.

Probably won't do any gutting or hacking or splicing until later on down the road- coming from a 328xi coupe this thing is PLENTY fast |

How many miles have you put on the exhaust? From my own personal experience, the AE performance exhaust system does get bit more tame after it's broken in. The culprit may be the catless downpipes though as the AE performance exhaust by itself should not drone.

I'm going to be honest with you as a person who had the first AE's on an N55..
The drone blows esp. for the sound output you're getting. It's honestly not going to get better and the drone is worse compared to my current setup. Sean, I think you're better off with a different exhaust..we prob have the same taste. I remember when I made the AE exhaust thread back in..Oct/Nov, I was already prepared to accept the fact that this exhaust isn't for me. I was even contemplating taking off the DP's to reduce the drone but thank god I didn't follow through with that. On an N54 tho, AE's are win but not on our cars. |

I'm so happy....I have this same problem.....but I have a muffler delete.
Costing $150. V.S. a $2,000 dollar exhaust. I don't care what anyone says but I LOVE MY MUFFLER DELETE! ! !
