Did you disconnect the cable in the trunk or use the "ball bearing method" by plugging up the hose connected to the left tailpipe?

ball bearing method, I heard read that the cable in the trunk sets off codes, that the dealer can pick up. However, does not show up as a fault on the dash.

Wouldn't it be easier to do the ball bearing on the trunk side of the tube so you don't have to get under the car - or just simply pinch the hose with some sort of a medical tubing valve?

It's a nice mod, either the golf tee or removing the plug. Either way, it's a good idea to lube the flap mechanism once in a while as it's not exercised with the vacuum pump disabled.

I believe you have gotten it mixed up. the "ball bearing" method is plugging up the tube UNDER the car. therefore your post makes no sense.

Why does it matter which end of the tube is plugged?

Definitely, the mechanism is really easy to reach and so is the unplugging and plugging procedures. I would prefer going under the car so the dealer will not hassle you about it.
