VANOS error codes?

Hello E90POST,

My car (07 335i) has been going into limp mode at random times for the past month and a half. Sometimes I'll drive it on the highway and it won't go into limp mode, other times I'll start the car and it will immediately go into limp mode. I took my car to the shop and it was reading several VANOS code errors:
2a87
2a82
2aa42a98
2e1b
29d0
3100
2ded

I got an oil change a few days before the car started to go into limp mode. Took the car back to make sure the right oil was put in the car, and the right oil was put in.
I read that often these codes mean that the VANOS solenoids need to be replaced, but my mechanic said he doesn't think this is the issue. I'm going to go ahead and walnut blast my car, since I plan on tuning my car soon.
I'm really not sure what the issue is any ideas???

Look up SI B11 02 08. Hopefully it's just the solenoids, but there's a good chance it's worn bearing ledges.

I replaced the solenoids and that got rid of every code except for the 3100 (boost pressure control, deactivation). Should I be worried about this?

3100 Is limp mode. You shouldn't be seeing that code alone, something else is triggering it. I would clear codes and see what comes back.

following this as I have the same issue. I just changed my valve cover gasket and oil. The car starts in limp mode....
