Vanos - Ongoing Issue
Hi All,
I have a n52 - 328xi BMW 2011. I've been having on-going issues with my VANOS system. Here is a summary of everything I've tried, and still no resolution. 1. Received a 2A87 Vanos Exhaust Mechanism Jammed code. 2. Cleaned out and swapped the Solenoids. CEL did not change position to inlet. 3. Changed oil and filters. Checked oil cap. 4. Checked the two one-way solenoid valves. No debris found. 5. Replaced the two Solenoid Valves (new gaskets and hardware). 6. Cleared adaptions and cleared CEL. 7. Error came back up after driving 100 km. 8. Swapped the Camshaft Position Sensors thinking perhaps the issue was feedback. CEL remains. 9. Verified voltages of connectors, all within spec. 10. Changed oil and filter. CEL remains. 11. Took engine apart and inspected bearing ledges. The camshafts already use a teflon seal, so it was unlikely the issue. I replaced the bearing ledges for good measures and re-assembled engine. Cleared adaptions and reset everything. 12. CEL remains. Error now 2a7a - Variable camshaft timing control, exhaust, cold start. |
