Advice on getting new shocks

My car is an '07 on all original suspension, around 130,000kms - ride is getting to be pretty rough when there's bumps/potholes.

I think it's time to replace the shocks this spring since I intend to keep the car as long as I can.

I just want to restore the factory ride. I haven't asked for a parts quote from the dealer, but I'm guessing aftermarket will be cheaper - any suggestions on what shocks to get?

Your bushings may be going too. I just did a full suspension swap (Koni Yellows with Eibach pro kit) and I am very impressed. Whole kit was about $1000 in parts with a few hundred bucks for install at Columbus Automotive. I could have got OEM shocks (original supplier without the BMW branding and markup) for about 500 bucks at ECS Tuning.

Good luck

That's not too bad of a price - I think this will be my project when the weather warms up a bit. I'm not too concerned about performance handling, I just don't want to chip a tooth every time I hit a manhole cover. lol

I went with Koni's and Eibachs for this exact reason. My car is my DD and the new kit drives very nicely!
