Sweet ride black is always an awesome choice!!

I had my 335"eye s" for 1.5 yrs now and I'm eyeing some mods again so I'm trying to decide for a tune myself: it's between:
1. JB4 (a piggy back) - for undeniable great results, price and the best customer service around (Terry is awesome)
2. Cobb (a flash tune) - for proven reliability and results, super easy installation (aka flash tune for dummies, my grandma can do it), great customer service...

Installation for JB4 (~30min): if you basically don't mind opening the cowel, unscrewing a few bolts and get to the DME to remove the tune prior to service, go for JB4!

Compared to Cobb (~15min): plug in AP into OBDII, push button, make yourself a Mastro Lorenzo Espresso Intenso, sip-n-joy, and bam, flash is done!

You really can't go wrong with either one performance wise!

wow you guys(e90post members) are great. i should have made an account months ago! lol

Which gives out more performance ? JB4 or Cobb. I am doing one or other soon! Is Cobb worth the extra few hundred ?

Thanks !

Sweet ride, I can't believe the DCT is only a $450 option, cheaper than the 19" rims!!!

Yes, the DCT is one of the best options on this car! The rims are mainly a visible enhancement, but the DCT you enjoy every second you drive! Lightning quick...

You pay more for the Cobb for 2 main reasons: simplicity of (un)install and the fact that it overrides the stock ECU settings (unlike JB which intercepts them) making it a proper tune.

I recommend JB4 if you're mechanically inclined and want to save $$s; if you don't know the difference between torx and Phillips bolts, then Cobb it is.

Being unbiased - BOTH will give you similar gains in performance...

ahh thanks for the explanation. The uninstall feature seems pretty damn convenient.
Any idea on the actual numbers? 30 HP+ increase? 30 ft/lb+?

Hell yea! Wait until you "break in" the car and start using the Sports button. I gave up on trying to save gas weeks ago! lol I believe the tint is 3M, 5% on the back 3 windows and 15% up front. Got a ticket on the 405 last week though, oh well. And as a matter of fact i got a no front plate ticket this morning ! damn you california !

n55 (1) big turbo with twin scrolls (think of splitting the power between the first and last 3 cylinders)
n54 (2) medium turbos

Its good that your chipping your is because a stage 3 needs the oil cooler that the is comes with. I would also suggest an intercooler (or cold air intake) if you actually are going to go with the stage 3 that you linked because of the increased heat generated from the engine being sucked into the intake.

Grtz on the IS. lots of fun even without tune. There are lots of good comparisons on tunes in the engine section.

If you haven't driven in S+Sport mode. Ie. dct shifter left into drive sport and punch the sports button.
(after you break in the car )

A lot more fun than drive+sport.

Of course I think my gas meter is broken now, cause it always shows empty...

Dynojet on 94 octane gas a Minimum of 50whp+ on the 335is with no other mods to about 365whp on the old software. WHP curve is pretty flat & falls off at 6500rpm

Have not dynoed the new software yet but its noticeably & measurably more powerful then the old version. One member has dropped from a 12.8 to a 12.5 second quarter with just the 335is software upgrade.

Think both Cobb & JB are good systems but the JB4 has 335is specific maps. The Cobb is easier to install & uninstall.

I am leaning more towards Cobb, but will make the final choice sometime next week. Thank you for the info
