What's the secret to putting this back on?

Was hunting down a rattle, noticed this wasn't clipped in partially so I pulled it off to reseat it because I couldn't get it to seat in place...well now I'm wondering how this goes back on.

I can't position it far enough forward or backward to have enough offset on the clips (circled in red) to slide it in place onto the posts (the brown things) and they don't seem to clip on from the top side.

Just don't want to snap any of these plastic bits pushing too hard or the wrong way or whatever anything.

Thanks folks.

You a flat head screw drive, pry them out of their hole, slide them onto the kick sill plate. Line up the holes again and smack it down

^^Correct. You have to pull the plugs out of the chassis and they slide in those slots in the trim. There is a reason those slots are so long too. You need to get all of the clips lined up with their holes before you smack it home or you will damage them.

Mine came off shortly after I bought the car. I just slid it over and hit it back into place

Awesome. So I went to put it back on and noticed that the kick panel in front of it is just floating. Pulled it off, the plastic pins (part # 07147152593) are sheared off. Now I have to go to the dealer and get some.

I know I've never had it apart and the only repair that was done in that area where I think that would have needed to come off was the battery cable recall...

More garbage work from Fuckner BMW in Lancaster, PA (Faulkner). Two years after I moved away from there they are still haunting me via email lists I can't get removed from because their unsubscribe links don't work and their management doesn't care to return emails or phone calls about it...Now I find this.
