Ever-present jerky transmission
Hello all. First off, I apologize if I am just beating a dead horse, but I've done extensive searches over multiple forums and never found one conclusive answer to this issue.
Here's some background. I've owned my 2006 325i for about 6 months and it is under CPO warranty until late next month. The car has about 93k miles on it. Since I purchased it, BMW has done quite a bit of work for what I found to be rather minor annoyances/quirks. They have replaced my transmission and fluid, ignition coils, water pump, blower motor, lifters and rocker arms, and other minor things. The only one of those things that actually failed/broke was the water pump. I've also had the spark plugs, control arm bushings, and all filters replaced on my dime. The largest of those jobs was definitely the transmission. I told BMW I felt jerking when accelerating from a stop or slow speed, especially on any amount of upward incline. Apparently they found some code deep in the computer that the transmission threw and opened a PUMA case with BMW, then BMW told them to replace the transmission. To try and make a long story short, I'm experiencing the same problem with jerky shifts again. The tranny just seems messy/confused at times. They've randomly reset the transmission once since the new one was put in, and that seemed to help quite dramatically, but now I'm here again and wonder if that's the only fix, or if there's something more permanent. I've already tried the whole "hold your foot down on the gas pedal for 25 seconds/30 seconds/1 minute with the accessories on" and it didn't do a thing... I'm getting sick of paying $50 deductible after $50 deductible when this issue has been present since my first visit to BMW. It doesn't seem right to me that they say "could not replicate problem" and then the next month when I come in with the same exact issue and they do find something wrong, I pay another CPO deductible... I've also read that the torque converter can cause this, and that there is apparently a service bulletin out about that. Searched hard and never could find that SIB. Could that be possible? I'm just wondering where to go from here. My warranty ends in about a month and this issue just seems to come right back, no matter what is done. Seems like this is quite a common quirk shared between many BMW models, so I'm surprised there isn't more info on this out there. Advice/tips are much appreciated.
