Opinions on this 335i
Hello. Long time lurker first time poster. I am a owner of a 2007 328i that I bought in 2011 with 13K miles and maintained until the engine blew on it two weeks ago with 121K. So I need a car. After looking at new GTI's and other various models have decided that I really, really, really like rear wheel drive and how E90's drive. (And do not want a Camaro or Mustang)
So I have found this in DFW - http://www.dfwaudi.com/used/BMW/2008...fb6c15dbcd.htm. 2008 335i sedan, 6 speed, sports package, leather. 72K miles. Got service history of car from BMW Dealer. Two owner car, first owner put 10K or so on over the life of the lease and the second owner bought it CPO and had service coverage and warranty till 100K (So it was maintained at a dealer which I have the records for). Car has new HPFP and injectors since 15.7K miles, wastegate replacement under extended warranty at 69K with new rear brakes, rotors, oil change and 02 sensor done @ the Audi dealership the car is sitting at. I was able to take the car to a indy mechanic and he scanned the car - no codes, everything underneath was clean, no oil leaks and everything looked good to him. He said I should not buy the car because he wants to buy the car. I also was able to drive in approx. 50 miles yesterday in the course of taking it to the indy and just testing the thing out since they gave me the keys and it drives extremely well. I got the dealer down to 14.3K on the thing. Am I crazy in thinking this is actually a pretty good deal and might be smart buy if I am looking for a fun car? Better than the 30K or so GTI and less soul killing than a 15K Honda. Appreciate feedback and comments. |

Sounds like a great car and the price is very good for a full service history 6MT 335i with 72k miles. You still have 10k miles warranty left on BMW turbo warranty.

Definitely take the car for a good drive. Get it up to full temp ( when the temp gauge is pointing just past straight down ), which might take 10 to 15 minutes of driving. Once you are sure it is there, exercise those turbos. You want to heat them up too. Accelerate pretty hard up through the gears several times. The car should handle just about anything you do ( aside from bad downshift ) so go and confirm it is in good working order.

Still waiting to find out for sure. The oil pressure light went off while I was on a highway. By the time I pulled off to the side of the road the engine was dead. There was no oil puddle or any oil on the underside according to the dealer in SC. The car is in the NE awaiting a new engine.

That 335i looks like a great deal. If it's in as good of shape as it looks you'd be hard priced to find one for a better price. And I'd get the extended warranty if they offer one.

Sounds like a good deal. If it hasn't had a walnut blast, you may want to negotiate that as part of the purchase. Few N54s do very well after 50k miles without the cleaning. Food for thought.
