BMS is expanding the 2.0 Beta pool!
Posted from N54tech:
Hey guys, We're ready for another 20-30 beta testers. The only hardware requirement this time is a BT cable. If you already have a G3 control box you'll need either a burner, or to purchase an update chip from our site to get the 2.0 firmware loaded the first time. Get your goods here: http://www.burgertuning.com/JB3_upgrades My comments: You can order the New 2.0 software on any new JB3/BT combo purchase through me or any other vendor can also assist you with the request. You will need to buy the USB cable for $35 when you add the 2.0 firmware. No burner needed Existing JB3 users with Gen 1 or 2 boards can upgrade to a Gen 3 board for $65 plus the $50 refundable core charge as stated on BMS's site. those with a Gen 3 board can either buy a burner from BMS or an upgraded chip and replace it in the JB3 box. Anyone can participate in the Beta program but you need to be willing to do the data logging for Terry to gather the data necessary from various cars to improve the tune. This is a great improvement and the feedback is great. People are loving the beta so far and it is only getting better. It is pretty fun to be involved with the development and playing with the software, so jump on it if you can No set date for the official release of the final version. Hope this helps you guys with your decisions. BRAD

Just to be clear, I have a JB3 1.4 I bought in November. It should be the latest board to support 2.0.
I need to buy a chip burner to update the firmware and buy the usb cable to update the latest maps and log data right? If I buy both of those items and when 2.0 is final released all I should have to do is update the firmware if necessary and load the release maps, right? Do you as a vendor sell both the chip burner and usb cable? When would they ship? |

No you can buy just the chip and the USB cable using the link I provided in the first post. You do need to have the BT cable as well to be part of the beta pool though. After the official release you will only need to order the USB cable.

So the firmware isn't going to change while in beta? Just the maps? If I buy a 2.0 chip and usb cable I should be all set when the release becomes final? I have a BT cable btw so all set on that front. How much for a 2.0 chip and usb cable? Do you supply those or should I just pick them up on the burgertuning site?

The instructions are that you need to buy an updated chip from BMS or get a chip burner if you want. The firmware can be updated via the USB cable after you get the updated 2.0 chip installed in your JB3 box. If you order the JB3 with the 2.0 already on it you just need the USB cable and the BT cable.
As per my first post the instructions are that you must have the Gen 3 board and you can upgrade using the link I provided.

This thread is purely for informational purposes for those thinking about upgrading or did not know how to do it. I have no monetary gain when people upgrade their boards or buy chips, burners or the USB cables from BMS. I saw there were a lot of posts in other threads and got PM's about how to do it so I wanted to post this up to help out.

You do need the BT tool and fi you click on the link in my first post it will show you what the GEN 3 board looks like and if yours is the same you are fine and if not then you need to buy the upgraded board and then you can order the updated chip with the 2.0 firmware on it and the USB cable directly from BMS. If you want a BT tool I can get you one of those.

Yes sir, I picked up a burner from a local guy selling his car! We have a big snow storm coming unfortunately so I won't be able to enjoy 2.0 until next week probably
