OK. I pulled the trigger on some M3s and Dunlop run flat snows and booked a time to set up my winter package. Date I booked was this coming Saturday.

We received a bit of snow ~5cm or a couple of inches. Sports package is absolulely brutal in the snow...I could barely get out of my street and drove white knuckled across the city. Only good thing about Toronto rush hour is I was moving at <10 km/hr which was likely a good thing.

I have a small distance to go off the highway to get to the office (<1km) and I swear I was going to lose my life. Zero, I mean zero traction.

I sure hope my winter setup is significantly better than the standard set up. Pls weigh in with any thoughts. I'd hate to have the board take a funeral collection.

No doubt, it's like driving on ski's with the hi perf tires. A winter set up will make a huge difference (at least it did with me on my e46 when I lived further north).

with the teeny bit of snow and ice we got last week I noticed the car was tough to drive and slid quite a bit. Just take it really easy on the throttle and brakes you should be ok. I had my Blizzak LM-22's and FASTWHEELS installed on Monday, the car drives great now in the snow and ice.

Well, thanks to global warming, it will jump back up to 12 degrees next week, so you have about a week to get those snow tires on.

OK. I'm very (I mean very) encouraged to hear that my winter set up should allow me to drive on something other than skis.

For all other members, you have been warned ! If you are balking at the $1500 - $2000 price tag, its worth it !

Happy to report I have successfully gotten into my winter package. M3 knock offs with Dunlop M3 runflat snows. HUGE, difference.

(Time to move somewhere south)

You must ABSOLUTELY go with a winter set up! The summer tires--especially on the 330i ZSP will--will turn your Beeemmmeeer into a sled.

I live in Chapel Hill, NC and still need a winter set up because even a dusting can be EXTREMELY hazardous.

I went with the 18' Blizzaks from tirerack mounted to 18' 196 Radial Spokes from BMW Wheels. It cost about $2,300 but its worth protecting a $44K investment--not to mention your LIFE.

What do you think about the non-SP all-season tires? I live in DC area where we get a fair amount of snow (tonight, as a matter of fact). Do you think I need snows or are the OE tires OK?

If you have summer performance, you will need a winter set up. No sense going all seasons, if you need to make a change, get some snows.

I learned this lesson years ago with an IS300 on summers. Damn near killed myself and my wife when I could not stop at an intersection. I am now an avid snow tire user and continually beat on people about how in snow country there is no such thing as an all season tire. We call them 3 Season tires.

Could u post some pics as to how they look. i have stock all-season tires and i want something that looks more sleek with a thinner tire but still performs as well as all-seasons.
