My wife just called me and said that state of California is asking for smog on our registration for 2011 335D? Is that possible??? Thanks

I blame your state for making my D emission restrictions so ridiculously annoying!

Yea I just took our car to get smog the other day. The only thing they did was do a visual and a smoke test LOL. The guy did not even know what size the motor was. I guess I was the first 335D they have do so far.

What does this mean?

d ownership in the US seems like such a hassle what with this, urea injection and the crazy legislations!
In the UK, I just bought a 330d and drove it lots for 3 years.
Sometimes, I had to fill it up with a liquid called "Diesel". No but seriously, every friggin' car here is a 4pot TDI and nobody has to bother with this crapola.

Call around to different smog shops in your area, as I am sure you will find a wide variation in cost for the test. I live in Brentwood(CoCo County) and the first place I called wanted $100 for the test and a reservation 5 days out to smog my Dodge Ram 3500. I called around and found a place in Pittsburg for $35 with no reservation required and they have been doing my smog tests ever since. They also allowed me to observe them as the test was done. Kalifornia is looking for mods, missing emissions equipment, and excessive smoke.
