Pics and Impressions: MTEC D1S 6000K
I recently got a set of MTEC 6000k D1S and installed them last night.
The color is white with just a hint of blue, compared to the stock D1S which look almost perfectly white. Side by side, the stocks look yellowish compared to the MTEC. Also included are some comparos with some GP Thunder H8s I'm running. I'd have taken some shots with my RD LED angel eyes but... I sold my set last month DISCLAIMER: Sorry the pics aren't the greatest. The white balance of the crappy point and shoot I was using was screwing with the actual color. So, I opted for the good ol' iPhone which surprisingly took shots a bit more representative of the actual color. iPhone-MTEC driver side, stock passenger side iPhone-MTEC D1S + 8500K angel eye iPhone-MTEC D1S + 7500k angel eye iPhone-Stock D1S + 8500k angel eye iPhone-Stock D1S + 7500k angel eye iPhone- Driver side:MTEC + 8500k fog Passenger side: Stock + 7500k fog iPhone-MTEC D1S + 7500k fog iPhone-MTEC D1S + 8500k fog ---------------------------------------------- Canon Point and Shoot (CPnS)-Stock D1S + 7500k fog CPnS- Driver side: MTEC D1S Passenger side: Stock D1S 7500k fogs in both CPnS-MTEC D1S + 7500k fog CPnS- Driver side: 8500k fog Passenger side: 7500k fog MTEC D1S in both --------------------------------------------------- Random: To order, PM Derrick aka E92-Lighting! I ordered 8000K bulbs from (prostreetlighting.com) and theyre giving off a green tent. The worst thing is theyre not even as bright as the OEM's. standing in front of the car they look good, but other then that, they are really bad bulbs. What should I do????????

They look great XPO186. I will order a set of the MTEC D1S 6000k from Derrick. He is out of the country until April 11th. The fogs I upgraded to are the Nokya 7000k. They look very good. I want to upgrade my Angel Eyes too.

Sorry for the crappy pics guys... I'm not a photography buff nor do I even own a decently performing camera.
I'll make sure to get some clearer pics when the opportunity presents itself... hopefully at a meet or something so I could further compare the color to stock units. Thanks again for the bulbs Derrick! |

How come pic 2 looks a little bluer than pic 3. I'm looking to make my hids the same color brightness as say a mercedes. Just seems like everytime I see hid lights in my rear view it isn't from another Bmw. In your opinion which pic would you say is the most accurate in terms of color. And would you say 6000k is a similar if not the same as a merc?
EDIT: Sorry I meant to say that every time I see a pair of hid lights in my rearview that I like the color/brightness of its not from a BMW. Last edited by hasrice; 04-09-2009 at 12:36 PM.. |

if you converting from halogen to HID then, you should buy the bulb in 4000k-6000k, anything over is just cosmetic looks. Human eyes can't much in range from 6000k to ultra violet lights.
