M5/6 LSD rear differential in an e92 335i???

I was told this was a direct swap... Wondering if anyone one on here has done the swap and can verify that I don't need driveshaft, yoke or anything else...it would be awesome being that it is 3.62 gear ratio and LSD.

Having looked at RealOEM it doesn't look like a direct swap (whether it was a e60 or F10 M5).

The closest to the using OEM parts is that the e90/e92 M3 rear diff can be swapped over. You do need a custom propshaft made, and also the M3 sideshafts to the hubs.

~edit~

The e60 M5 lsd does look it might be possible, but the diff output flange is a bigger diameter and so would need either custom output shafts or if you are very lucky, maybe another OEM part could be used.

~further edit~

The e92 M3 diff output shafts have the same diameter fitment as the M5 diff. Whether they are the right length is another matter! lol

Pumpkin seems like it will bolt up (I already bought the diff)... Diff cover is insane and looks like it will hit the subframe. Axle bolt pattern is the same... My issue is the yokes are different styles and wondering about driveshaft fitment.

3.62 ratio with our turbos would be no fun at all. Maybe with a large laggy single it would work.

I have rb's... Shod work great if I can figure out wtf I need and would be the ultimate mod. LSD + gear change is normally 2-3k total.. I paid 600 for diff...

Well, it looks like I'll let you guys know. I thought I was low balling a guy on ebay with an offer, but he had a high shipping price, accepted my offer, now I have an m6 diff heading my way. Excited or pissed, I'm not sure, but I'll take pics.

Awesome thread, I'd be very interested to know if this works! I must say, I miss power oversteer despite my last foray tragically landing my E46 M3 into a guardrail

That would be mighty sweet if it worked out...don't think the shorter gear would be a plus, though.

Very nice, even though 3.62 is too much in my opinion.

i retract my statement, he just got back to me and he said he has not installed it yet but he bought it from the same guy you did up in michigan.
He said he thinks he needs to swap diff cover & rear section of the drive shaft.
if he does install it anytime soon i will let you know!

Very interesting indeed! It looks like folks can we well on their way to <$600 LSD upgrades! Although, I think its worth noting that these M diffs appear to be hydrolic, so for more effective torque tranfer, quaife, wavetrac, drexler, or os giken would be the way to go.
