I had this kind of setup on old car.. What kind of protection you have from water - hydrolocking Do you need "better than stock" hood locks to sustain higher speeds? |

The water deal is a non issue. I've driven in pouring rain, washed the car many times, etc. You could raise the hood and take a garden hose to it while the engine is running and not hurt anything. Any water that does get by the filters is just free water injection!
I'm running all the stock hardware including the hood latch and shocks. No problems so far. The hood is a seibon vented carbon hood with the sides painted white. I also don't think that heat soak is an issue with this setup, at least not that the butt dyno can tell. You can really see the heat waves coming out of the vents when sitting still, there's alot of heat coming out of those vents for sure. The difference in sound between the stock hood and the seibon hood is dramatic.

BMW, with an adaptive ecu, the car will always try to attain a certain A/F even without a tune. The advantage here is the intake will lean you setup and the DME should add fuel to attain its target A/F ratio. Bottom line is that equals more power. |

hope no one flames me for this... but am i the only that feels a little iffy about having the turbos sucking air away from each other?.. i mean shouldn't there be a plate or something in the middle separating the 2 ends of the filter? maybe it's just me.

It doesn't seem to be an issue but you could always do the dual cone setup if you want them isolated.
