Is there a way to fully turn off traction control

Hi
I currently have Cobb AP and thought that by just disengaging the dtc would allow me to have a little fun around the turns- but no go.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Disabling DSC is not recommended imo unless you are on a track or a very good driver. I drove over some light rail tracks around a corner and ended up getting too sideways and hit the curb sideways rolling my car over. Granted, this was a very special case situation that all happened perfectly however its one time I really regretted turning it off.

Love the xDrive with the Traction Off because it's really hard to even make it slip. But be really cautious when disengaging the traction control especially on a RWD.

Yikes. Did this happen recently and are you ok? Please indulge us with pictures to quench our morbid fascination of twisted metal

To completely disable the Traction Control, hold down the DTC button until you get this symbol in your info display

Then make sure the road is dry & there's nothing to hit before you mash the gas

+1. One of my favorite parts about xi is turning traction off then being able to floor it in 1st gear and have the car just take off

This is probably because you didn't install your drivers mod..

+1 did almost the same thing except I turned mine off (first week owning it) and tried to power slide around the same turn I take everyday by my country road, and instead I over corrected to the left to much then right then car spun around me and I ended up in the ditch with only my rear bumper cracked from the exhaust hitting it. But now I have my driver mod installed

Some of the best drivers in the world have been in devastating accidents. Comments like this are irresponsible because no one is immune to the possibility of making mistakes. Klipreracer made an excellent point. When driving on the street, you should do whatever possible to mitigate risk.

Even with LSD, I make a point to not drive with it all the way off unless I'm doing a pull. Public roads suck and have hidden pavement features that you can't always anticipate.

Be careful when you cut it off things can get very tricky

I'm not the world's best drifter nor a professional. I make no claim that there wasn't error in my driving that day. However, I grew up until I was 18 in the sticks of eastern and southern Oregon living in black ice, four feet of snow, 7% grades, people dying and driving off into hydro electric dams, my drive just go go to the nearest Walmart consisted of a 40 minute stint following a river winding back and fourth with high speed and low speed corners. My drive to high school was 12 miles mini pikes peak. Only now do I live in the city. Regardless having an automatic doesn't allow you to disengage when beginning to lose control of the rear end. It continues to power you throughout your mistake. Metal tracks of a light rail are quite slippery and is what initiated the overcorrection that put me into the curb and thus the upside down car. I was fine, was a low speed crash and it happened a couple years ago after I parted out to sell. I have pics and a video posted on these forums in one of my threads.

Telling people not to turn off DSC because of some perceived "danger" of driving with it off is exactly why we have so many drivers that can't drive with it off.

I can completly agree on this. I nuked my former e92 FBO /RB while driving without traction control on a highway which was wet, too wet, it took my car into a pilar of a bridge within a split second. Fortunalty I survived as I just did 60 miles an hour.

My experience:

+20 laps on the ring without traction control
+200 laps on other racetracks with and without slicks without traction control
Multiple advanced race and car handling courses

Public roads have just too less tolerance to drive around with 400-500whp witout safety's. 99% of the time it goes well, till just that one second when everything falls apart...

It is not that I never drive without traction control but do not take it to easy... because on average it goes well...... it's the exception that takes your car and hopefully only your car....
