Hey guys, so i have in my car a retrofitted CIC unit. I still have the donor VIN and never changed the VIN in the head unit to my car but am now interested in updating my maps. Also am contemplating doing the combox retrofit and have read my CIC firmware needs to be the newest version.

I am familiar with all coding (have done it all myself) but have read mixed things, saying you can't update CIC without ICOM.

Most importantly, looking to update the maps, combox may come later.

CIC does NOT need to be on latest version to use Combox. This is what all the companies say so they force you to also pay for an FSC to activate bmw apps.

To update the maps read out your 1B from the CIC then create map FSC from it.
Upload Maps via dvd or usb.

So lol i currently have am emulator in there, would that affect anything? Also, how do i get to my 1B and create an FSC? Im good with coding but all the CIC stuff is all new to me

I believe the only difference with the emulator is that you are going have a more difficult time pulling 1B.
Since you do not have ethernet wired to OBD.

You'd might need to FTP via USB
