Thank you! Thank you! Now all that's left is to re-do my partner's and my own car. They were the guinea pigs, but now that we have technique down the cars look flawless.

amazing!
Question: total cost if you dont mind me asking How does that stuff hold on? I assume once you scratch it, it can't be fixed AND does a scratch make the rest of it start to peel off? Do you do inside the door jambs or are they still white? and why do you cover the lights and then peel it off? I understand that it is easy to peel off, but why even cover them in the first place? I guess you don't need to "tape things off" with plasticdip?

Scratches come off after a wash. Peeling on the other hand..my car has been matte black for about 2 months now and has never peeled. Even if it does happen, a simple respay on the panel is all that is needed. But you have to respray on the entire panel..so you'd have to peel off the panel then respray. My door jambs are still white, I could really care less about that. It's a hassle to tape up the lights, peeling is much easier. Simple as that. |

Plastidip holds pretty well. I've had my window trims, badges and wheels dipped for about 5-6 months now and they show no sign of peeling. The trick is to get a good uniform edge seal. My girls wheels we did first and did poorly so they are starting to peel. "Scratching" it isn't that easy to do. The stuff is pretty thick and rubbery, so rocks and stuff generally bounce right off, I mean ya if you take a knife or something to it you will damage it, but you would ruin your paint too. You generally don't mask unless you have to with plastidip because it is not paint. When you mask, if you let the dip dry over the tape and the part you are masking, when you peel the tape, you peel the dip, ruining the finish. If you are going to mask with plastidip you have to peel the masking while the dip is still wet, which is challenging. Especially when dipping an entire car. Much easier to dip everything then use the seams to "cut the dip and peel off the parts you don't want dipped. |
