Reset iDrive Programmable Keys
Hi all,
Took delivery of a 2011 328i today and am looking for a way to reset the 6 iDrive presets. I searched around but found nothing here or in the manual. It looks like some say it isn't possible with the new hard drive based iDrive, but I would find that hard to believe. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Another neat feature of those buttons is that if you just rest your finger over them rather than pressing them, iDrive will display what each button does along the top edge of the display. UPDATE: It's in the manual, under the iDrive section. The heading is "Programmable Memory Keys". On my M3 manual that's Page 20. If you mean reset as in clear them out so they don't do anything at all, there isn't a function for that in iDrive but just set them to something you'd use.

Thanks for the response. I'm aware of everything that you mentioned and read that part of the manual. I'm trying to figure out how to change an assigned button back to unassigned or how to clear them all.

Just saw your update. I'm surprised they can't be cleared.

Why would you need that? If you don't intend to use them then why worry about what functions are currently assigned? And why miss out on a great feature?

I wanted to unassign the keys that had been set on the 2nd key fob. Not a big deal, but surprised it can't be done.
