so... just to let you know...
if someone did get into an accident in a bmw and passed away...
they probably won't be posting here...
so all we're going to see is people that survived the accidents...

though I definitely agree that BMW is a safe car, just letting everyone know that those that didn't walk away won't be posting here.

A girl turned in front of my wife and she had no chance to even hit the brakes. The speed limit is 55 and I estimate that the girl was slowed down to 15-20 when she turned so it was probably a 70 mph impact. Everyone thankfully walked away but the airbag put a burn on my wife's arm and she has some bruising.

The other insurance company has said $14,525 in damage!! It is being sent to a shop to tear down and to see if there is hidden damage but since it is an 08 with 16k miles it will take another 15k in damage to get to a constructive total. I would prefer not to have it back.

What is your experience with problems after repairs on a severe collision? Has anyone gotten a diminution of value settlement and how did you establish the amount? The girl was 100% at fault.

Sorry about the pic size...first post.

hopefully you have engine damage. insurance companies don't usually like to mess around with cars that have engine damage since they may never be fixed correctly and could cost them more than if the car was outright totalled. the vent going out of your air box looks torn so it looks like a good amount of force went through.

Well mine was more of a defect than a crash.

Car was off, sitting in the driveway for about 30 min when it started. I came out of my house to find my freshly washed BMW smoking out of the hood. Ran to open the hood when flames shot out. Decided that I should back off and called the fire department.

Investigator was say exactly what the source of the fire was but he believed that it came from the front right headlight. Said that there was a short in the light and caught the plastic on fire. Insurance paid for the damages.
