spotted: Audi RS5 in Virginia

In Arlington, VA. With Audi manufacturer's plates. Audi North America is based in Auburn Hill, Michigan. They used to be in Reston, VA where there are still some corporate offices.

It sure is taking a long time to release this car here in US.

Too funny, they just got a white one at a dealer here (buyer backed out.) Went to see it today and have to say it looks great, always liked the S5 shape. Check out the scalloped rotors, never seen that before.

Gorgeous car. And you are right, it is taking forever to get that over here. When I read some articles about the car a few years ago, it said end of last year, beginning of this year...still nothing. Can't wait to see one in person.

Nice car, but is it just me, or is the current version (S5) look more aggressive? My sister has the s5 currently, the front on this new RS5 looks awkward to me. Especially the headlights.

It's just you

The current S5 shares the same front end as the RS5, minus the more aggressive fender flares, intake vents, and lip.

Audi has been slow to release this car in the states -- hell, the US configurator still doesn't have the RS5 featured. That said, my colleague came back from his ED last month, and is expected his RS5 to arrive in California shortly.

To correct myself I only mean't the front, with that being said i think the headlights will take some time for me to get used to. Other that that the rear is much better than the previous version(I hate the small exhaust's on the S5s), the sides are beautiful, and the grill is actually much cleaner, and more aggressive. I guess i really can't hate on this car, and i am sure it will look much better in person!

Nice pics.

My dad just picked up a trip black S5 vert and I'm really impressed with it. We went to breakfast yesterday and while we were parked a new 650 vert parked next to us and I think for the money the s5 is the better looking car.

Are the scalloped rotors to reduce rotational weight? Or do they stop better?

Any thoughts on whether these cars will have the carbon build up issues that the RS4s have?

Took long enough to reach North America. Still like to older version more. This new style is nice but way too subtle.

Sexy car! I'm a big fan of this generation A5/S5/RS5.

I can't wait to see the next generation M3 coupe though. The only one out of the big 3 german cars to have not updated yet. The new C63 is beautiful... and this new RS5 is right up there.

The E92 coupe got its LCI in MY11, a year before Mercedes refreshed the C-class in MY12 and two years before Audi refreshed the A4 and A5 in MY13.

Likewise, the next-generation F32 coupe will likely hit before Audi releases the B9 generation and Mercedes the W205 generation.

According to Audi, this engine shares very little in common with the B7 RS4 motor, other than displacement and peak torque. The cylinder head is now a Gallardo/R8 V10 unit with two cylinders lopped off; the same way the M3 V8 was derived from the E60 M5 V10.

Sorry to say but RS5 and C63 are still current gen with the E9X, it seems BMW will be first to show off its new M version of the 3/4 series than Benz will show its C-class AMG and Audi will show the S-line for 4/5. We had our update already, the LCI upgrades might be subtle but that is exactly what these guys done too.

Either way, RS5 is hella sick!

The A5/S5/RS5 is brand new... a bit more than just an 'LCI' conversion imo. Same with the new C63 coupe. Wasn't the coupe a 2012 first release?
Honestly the only change in the M3 LCI seemed to be the taillights... The true next gen with be the F3X M3.
