New Car/out of alignment

I purchased a left over 2011 335ix out of state in April. I noticed once I got home that the steering wheel was a bit off to the left. Since there was no local BMW dealership, I called one about an hour away. By this time I had 1,700 miles on the car since I drive a lot for work. They told me it would not be covered under warranty since the car was more than 12 months old. I told them that I had just purchased it with 54 miles on it a month before. They claimed it didn't matter. I ended up having to get the car aligned and was charged the full $225 at a different dealership when I had to bring the car in for service because of a check engine light. They told me that they would have performed the alignment for free if the car had under 2k mi on it. It had 4400 at that point. Is it worth writing a letter to BMW to see if I can get anywhere since the first dealership blew me off??

Like anything south o'very expensive, dealers don't do alignment. They claim: 'It was done at the factory.' Ha.

BMW recommends the mech pay c-l-o-s-e attention to how it drives during dealer prep, new car. If it seems in alignment, move it out the door!

The truth is, an alignment should be done a few thousand miles down the road, new car. Suspensions wear in a little....words to the wise.

My alignment was off from the factory too, and I ordered my car (received w/ 6 miles). I had it aligned at a private shop.

I doubt this situation is worth writing a letter over though.

Did your steering wheel go back to on center after the alignment?

Oddly enough the bmw is such a powerful car and has staggered special setup that it feels out of alignment to most of us new drivers ... and anyone will take money to di repairs needed or not

Just to follow up on this old post, BMW did come back and reimburse me for the full cost of the alignment.
