Darren,
I tend to call the range 'cosmetic' rather than 'performance'. No technical figures are released for any of the products. Dealers do not seem to know what's available, ie the catalogue clearly shows a diffuser for a 335i coupe but most seem to think it's not available. The carbon pieces are much cheaper than AC Schnitzer but more expensive than replica parts. The BBK has been used by E92Fan at the ring and they fell apart.

However, I do like the look of some of the styling parts and fit and finish of the parts is very good. I would love to see an induction kit for the 335i.

Additionally these parts should be speccable on a new build.

Was at Wycombe today having a chat with Doug (Parts Manager) I did a bit of digging and he knew what was what. We talked about labour costs. There is a bit of an issue there which needs to be overcome. BMW AG quote a labour time to fit, and at our "standard retail" the fitting ends up costing too much. "So why don't we just work out a fair fitment price and sell more parts then" - I ask.

"we can if that's what you want guv"
"I do!" I say -

so watch this space....

I went into Sytner Harrogate to get the Alpine upgrade speaker kit, I'm sorry sir but we don't do one!

'Oh yes you do, put these numbers into your machine' and lo and behold up came the kit!

Paid for and quoted 2 hours 30 mins to fit it, 'I guess you have not done one before then? I asked, I was told I would have to pay the time taken even if it went over the quoted fitting time.

I got the local ICE guys to fit it and 2 of them took 90mins and they charged me £120

Cannot... understand... vendor... listening to customers... ahh

It's all new to me, having a dealer actually listen. Bloody weird. (but excellent, well done Darren!)

I think idea of official bmw parts is a good one. just a shame about the lack of knowledge at the dealers. Ordered up the gloss black grills 2 weeks ago and the date of when they are supposed to arrive just keeps getting put back and back as they say Germany is out of stock. Had to pay the full price up front as the deposit aswell.

What would be really great is if you would discount a different product each month, say the black grills one month and something different the next.
Ps what is the price of these officially? I was quoted over £80 for my e90 which seems rather steep.

That's the exact same response I got when I went into Irvine BMW in Bridgwater today.

"I'd like an idea of the price for the Alipne Audio upgrade kit for my E90 please"

"We don't do one Sir"

blah blah blah and he looked on his machine and there it was. Plus it was in the 3 Series accessory brochure I asked for.

How much business is being lost here I wonder? BMW realised the standard ICE was crap in the E90 and decided to do something about it, but forgot to tell their dealers.

Its all a bit steep though isnt it? 2400quid for a pair of seats, you can get a pair of recaro cs seats for nearly a grand less

The 19" Performance wheels look absolutely stunning but the ride is far to harsh. And god help me if I ever kerb one at the prices they are new.

My biggest gripe is inconsistency for fitting performance parts from dealer to dealer. Even BMW UK say it's down to the individual dealer as to how much they charge!!! Not good enough!

Parts price is fine, but the fitting charges border on absurd at times.

Many dealers are still charging for the time the car sits being updated, because of teh way the new system works it will not allow you to code a new item to the car, for example performance steering wheel, until the rest of the car is up to date.
This is of no benefit to the customer it just gives BMW AG a chance to keep car modules up to date and make life easier for them for warranty work etc.
Now that is fine, but the steering wheel needs 30 minutes of coding and takes 15-20 minutes to fit, so all in all it should be 1 hours worth of labour.
However, BMW advise that it could take up to 8 hours if the car needs other modules updated. Some dealers then consider this as 8 hours worth of labour and it isn't at all, it is still 1 hour just the car may need to sit there for up to 8 hours depending what software it is running.

But you can see why many people see an item for £200 and think "I'll have that." and then when they are told it is £1000 to fit, think..."Yeah right, fuck that!!"

There needs to be some serious educating regarding coding and what the customer is charged, then the performance range could be a serious sideline.

Darren, sent you a PM but for anyone else, where can I get some interior trim parts from? Everytime I try to use my local Vines who are literally a few minutes from me they keep insisting on a bloody reg number... but it's not for my car (well it is, but don't want them to know that).

Is there not the equivalent of Tischer over here?
