1. When 2 drivers decide to drive right next to each other on a 2 lane highway so passing is impossible.
2. When a really high vehicle (SUV, minivan, anything I can't see around) is in front of me and I have to sit and wonder if they have open road in front of them. 3. When I'm driving fast just because I'm driving fast and other cars (usually ricers) think I am racing them. |

AMEN to #1. Last month, I was driving I-80 all the way across Iowa. I was stuck behind a military convoy that refused to let anybody pass - they had both lanes and were doing 60 in a 70 zone for at least 30 minutes between Des Moines and the NE state line. These were 18 wheelers. I think they were doing it because they were bored and were laughing at people wanting to pass. Finally got past them after the I-680 junction. |

I'm sure this has been said, but "fail to keep right unless passing".

It has, but it's well worth repeating.

People who stop or slow to a crawl because they missed their turn. I've seen folks on Highway 66 in DC (don't get me started on DC drivers) just stop in the west bound left lane because they missed the right lane turnoff to Dulles. Seen this in other locations too. If you don't know where you're going, pull off and figure it out.
Also hate it when someone pulls out of a side street into your lane and forces you to slow down when there is no one behind you. If they just waiting for you to pass. People who do the same thing when making a right turn on red. You see the whole thing happening...you know they are not actually going to stop before making their turn on the red and that you're going to have brake hard to avoid them. The most important thing a driver can do is be predictable to other drivers. Last edited by joelk01; 08-19-2013 at 07:43 AM.. |

Turn signal usage is #1 for me. This is NOT just an issue affecting the safety of other drivers. It matters greatly for pedestrians too. I walk a lot in my residential neighborhood and the number of people blowing through stop signs and making turns with no signals is epidemic. The cops will stop people on freeways for going ten miles over the limit, but when was the last time you saw one giving a ticket to someone failing to signal? Crickets.

when people dont turn right on red (in NJ) when theres no cars coming. best is when they dont turn their signal on until the light turns green.
unless theres a sign saying no, you can turn right on red after a complete stop gaddamnit! |

My rebuke of your crass generalization, aside, I can say it just irritates me when other drivers drive minivans. And I really don't care how well they are being driven. They have their purpose. They can be useful and convenient. But I don't like them in exactly the same way I don't like "the ugly truth."

1. People that make a left on green where I'm making a right on green and don't go to the closest lane they are turning to. This happens everyday when I leave my neighborhood and really pisses me off. I almost get hit a few times a week because they think they should go all the way to the far right lane where I'm turning. They act like they have the right of way.
2. The stupid high school kids in their lifted trucks with 20k HID's and no projectors in reflector housings. 3. The stupid high school kids that think they are cool because they "roll coal" in their chitty old diesels.

...are waiting in line at the car wash when I get there. Five or fewer is fine, I'll pull in and wait. 20+ drivers all sitting there just plucks my last nerve. It's not them I'm annoyed with, it's me, for waiting so damn long to go tot he car wash that I'm there with every other Tom, Dick and Harriet! I just turn around, go home and wash the car myself, or have one of my kids do it. (I only have one left at home...so sad...well, not really. )

People who turn out right in front of me. It's very obvious they can't judge distance and speed for shit, or they just don't care. Either way, it's time like this when I wish I had kept my aunt's old '74 Ford LTD and be able to plow into them, and still be able to walk away.

1. Whenever I'm driving fast and someone thinks I'm trying to start a race with them.
2. People who don't use their turning signals. 3. People that shift into reverse at a parking lot and just stay there. |
