N55 Confirmed?

So is it now public that the N55 will be replacing the N54 in all MY2011 E92/93 LCIs except the new 335is?

Why will BMW keep the N54 on the 335is coupe and vert and only put the N55 on the sedan and coupe/vert non sport. Clearly the N54 is still the better choice for enthusiasts.

There is no best. Depends on what you want it for and what you want to do to it. If you want to max out power and performance, probably a 2009 e92.

Do you want extra doors, convertible, 4 wheel drive? They all limit the highest level upgrades. I drive was upgraded in 2008 I believe. The 2007-2009 had forged internals. N54 motor. N55 doesn't. Auto trans is faster due to faster shifts especially if it's a dual clutch. Manual trans can handle more hp than auto and just needs a clutch swap to go higher than 600 hp. As for where, check forums, autoshopper, dealers, etc. find one that's been maintained well and no major accidents. Hope this helps.

And don't forget the M3. Little more power, little better handling, but higher price and not as good bang for the buck especially if you're modifying.

Engines can remain in cars for a lot longer than the chassis is active.

Unfortunately, this is not likely since they have the B58 already for the 340i.
