Xi. eibachs. 19s. Quick driveway pics.
As the title suggests, here is my newly lowered TiAg e90. Pics are from my phone, and the car needs a wash and wax after this winter. I will be doing a proper photoshoot in the upcoming month or so, once I get some free time. Here is some additional info that might be helpful:
Car is 2007 328xi; 32,000 miles Springs are Eibach Pro Kit for 328i. Part number 2085.140. Stock shocks. Wheels are 19 inch Avant Garde M341 (purchased from Gavin@MMW). Tires are Hankook Ventus V12 evo. 235/35-19 et 35 front, 265/30-19 et. 33 rear. Note, the rear looks like it sits a little lower than the front in these pics because of the driveway slope. On level ground, I do not notice the front rake anymore. Ride quality is a little harsher after adding the wheels, however I do not find it uncomfortable at all. |

Thanks, guys! Yeah I agree about needing the 19s with the eibachs. I was running my stock 16s for a couple weeks after installing the springs, and you could barely tell the car was lowered. I'm definitely happy with the way it turned out, though.

Thanks, Gavin! And thanks again for all your help! Guys, don't hesitate to work with Gavin on any of your mods, he's super helpful and answered all of my (millions of) questions. I think I'll be looking into getting an exhaust from him in the future.

Looks great! I definitely need to drop my xi
So you confirmed that the 328i springs work correctly on an ix? Because Eibach does not list a spring for ix app & usually the ix requires a different P/N spring with other manufactures... Only thing is I will also replace the shocks with springs. Wonder how long (if ever) it takes for your stock shocks with 32k miles on em' to crap out after trying to control shorter springs that they were not made for. I guess I don't understand why lowering amount would be any different between different size wheel/tire combo? You're lowering the car over the wheels, plus if you changed up in size correctly, the new bigger dia. wheel/tire combo should be very close to the same dia. as the stockers (especially since it is an xi) only difference you have less tire sidewall showing now...

Yeah, no issues yet. I had a really long response with a pic with the stock wheels, but the stupid iphone app decided to only post part of a quote. Ugh. Anyway, I'll get that pic up for you guys later tonight, and a better response for you, 1QuickWS6.

And I agree with your comment about the ride height being the same regardless of wheel size. On paper, it really doesn't make sense that the ride height/wheel gap would appear that different based on the wheel size, however I can tell you first hand, when I was running my stock 16s, no one (even my mechanic friend that helped me install the springs) could really tell the height was different. Although the drop in front is definitely noticeable if you know what you're looking for. My theory is that, since the 16s have such a non-aggressive offset, they didn't come anywhere close to sitting flush with the fenders. so in normal lighting, there are just tons of shadows being cast all over the wheels. Add that to the much larger sidewalls, and it all just blends in with the wheel gap. Probably more of an optical illusion than anything. I created a thread prior to the install, which then turned into a post-install write-up here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=473146. You can see I did some measurements, as well as included a pic of the drop with the stock wheels. The measurements show that the drop is there, but in the wide shot of the car, it's kinda tough to tell. Anyway, I'll keep posting if I run into any issues or get any better pics. |

Bam, can you take a few measurements? I'd reall like to see what the drop is measured. I have the exact same car as you and need to visualize the drop a little better.

Sorry, I've been super busy lately and just got back from Vegas on a company trip (so many nicely modded 3ers there, by the way). I'll redo my measurements with the 19s and post it up, but I can't imagine it being that different from the measurements I posted in my previous thread (I included a link to it on this thread a while ago...scroll up!). Rough guess for now is that I've got about an inch of wheel gap in back, and slightly less than an inch gap in front. Also im still working on getting some good pics. I don't wanna do a full on photoshoot until 1) it isn't winter or raining in kc, and 2) I get a chance to wash, clay, polish, and wax my car. So hopefully soon. When I was researching all this, I really liked grannydriver's post called "dropped it like it's lukewarm (not hot)" which I'm sure youve all ran across. So if you're dying for pics of the 19s on Eibachs, grannydriver is actually running the same suspension, wheels and tires in those pics as I am now. But his car is much cleaner than mine...yowza!
At any rate, I still haven't had any issues yet, and ride harshness isnt intolerable, so I'd say go for it if you need a drop. If you've got the cash, grab the bilsteins too, but if not, I think you'll be fine for quite a while on your stock shocks, without too much sacrifice in ride comfort. Anyway, I'll try to keep you guys updated when I can. Cheers!
