What front brake pads and discs?

Hi all,

My 2007 E91 330i has just popped up with the replace front brake pads indicator. Thinking about replacing the discs at the same time. Have been quoted around 360 from a local BMW specialist to do it with OEM (non-genuine parts).

Thinking if I'm going to do the front discs and pads I might as well get better performing ones. What ones do you recommend. Want good brake performance and also ideally not too much noise when braking etc. have heard cross drilled ones are noisier when braking? Or is it best to stick to OEM ones.

Cheers guys!

If you can find them get Akebono, awesome and no brake dust.

I just got some Textar ones put on mine and no complaints.

Was doing some research before hand was advised not to get 'performance' brakes on either just the rear or just the front, to only do both or not at all

I have tried slotted and dimpled disks with Brembo HP2000 pads - looked good but awful loud hum on braking which eventually drove me insane. So I went back to standard disks (Pagid) and added Tarox pads. Very pleased with this combination - I would recommend them for road use.

Brembo pads and discs put on last year. Very dusty but excellent braking abilities and little to no brake fade in doing the brake dance when traffic is like a disco.

Put your reg into http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ and see what it comes up with. Should save you a lot if you just pay them for labour if you don't want to do it.
