Not only they removed the Logic7 as standard equipment in all the top 3-Series, but they made the crappiest sound system possible standard equipment in $50,000 cars... even the new X5 had a 6-speaker system. What I really don't understand is that a BMW Professional HU used to be the top HU in everything (power output, sound quality) but in the Stereo system it simply sounds castrated, like it is in fact a Business model with the Professional label hand painted with a Sharpie on it. A 8W RMS/15W per channel max output IC amp is a disgrace in 2010; my 2010 VW CC has a RNS-510 Nav system that has the same IC amp series as the JBL MS-8, and it is technically capable of up to 72W per channel at 2 ohms: in the RNS-510 the power is limited to 20W RMS/40W max and in the MS-8 is 30W RMS/60W max at 2 ohms). The RNS-510 powers 8 speakers (2 pairs of 2 ohms components) and the sound quality is pretty impressive at high volumes with just deck power, especially the bass. This is the kind of decontenting that should not be done in a premium market... |

BTW, I took the blank center speaker cover off the dash and noticed a free plug. If that's for the center channel, how is it currently hooked up to the OEM HU outputs? Is it in parallel to the front channel? Anyways, when I get your harness, will it also take into account the wiring for the center channel? |

To correct myself, the door OEM speaker does not fit in the center speaker mount. |

Yeah, someone mentioned that in the forums as well. Looks like I'll need to get one more speaker. That's ok. It's starting to get exciting putting the plan together and gathering parts.

All I know is there's nothing more disheartening then spending 40k + on a car and having a hotel room iPod plugin sound better - waiting to make an epic 5 posts so I can PM VPelectricity.

I completed my fix for this problem a few months ago. I replaced both door and rear speakers with Infinity 4012i"s and the sound is fantastic, and it cost less than $100 to complete the whole job. No more popping, and that was the big one, getting rid of that f'n popping. No problems since.
, , Just a note, don't just do the doors, I did that but I still got some popping, complete the rear deck as well to fix the problem. The speakers, , http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Refer.../dp/B0009ESMFM

Of course, "the popping went away" is kind of a low bar for sonic improvement anyway. I know he said they sound amazing... but I've heard those speakers. They only sound amazing next to the horrid sound the car had before, I'm afraid. |

What do you think about the bsw speakers? I am looking to upgrade my stereo system but have no idea what to get. the bsw speakers price is reasonable. Does anyone have experience with them?
The standard speakers are just s**t. I really didnt expect to get such s***ty speakers when buying a 335is. I'm embarrassed to play music when i have friends in the car. Its that bad.. |

That's marketing hype. Those speakers are not "tuned" for anything and I believe they are also used in the Hifi and L7 systems, which happen to be driven by more powerful amplification than the base system.

Anyways, how did the BSW set sound on your base system? I assume you did not add an amplifier? |

I am also looking into about upgrading by basic system, to my 2011 328i. I have been looking into speaker sets and I am finding pricing from $800 to $600. There has to be a better way.
