Whats up with the sound system?
Switched over from a G37S to a Pre-owned certified 2011 335i Sedan. Love the drive and I think I'm BMW for good. However, the sound system is not impressive at all. It seems on songs there is a decrease of volume on some speakers. Not sure if this is a known issue, but I'm disappointed that such a nice car has this issue. I am aware of the car being used, so I would like BMW to check it out, but I was wondering if anyone else on the forums had a issue with sound, especially with the volume sounding muffled when driving.
Thanks in advance! |

A lot of people have this issue. Your car (like mine) most likely doesn't have the Logic 7 sound system. There's nothing wrong with it but it isn't exactly a great system. there are plenty of posts about this and how to upgrade it. Hope this helps.

Compared to the '07, I think the '11s only have 8 speakers. They are both HiFi with the external amp, but fewer (and smaller, I think?) speakers. Both are way better than the 2010. There are also some very early build '11s that do not have HiFi. Might want to check your build date and do a search on the audio threads.

Try the different surround/hall settings, some will cause certain speakers to activate depending on what's going on in the song, very annoying.

Guess my hearing is not going bad after all then. I have a 07 coupe with Logic7 and quite often it sounds as the speakers in the rear passenger "wall" are cutting in and out. Quite annoying as the sound is considerable better when they do kick in.

I too have noticed this on my 08 sedan. I had figured it was in the processing and the unit trying to provide the "surround sound" correctly.

It can be like the tuner has failed. The fix will be to replace it, but I don't know if it's going to be a cheap and easy to find part, or if it's expensive. you may have an aftermarket CD changer and not realize it
