The hashed area is there to give people that room but to prevent a 'normal' overtaking lane. Most likely they decided a 3rd lane would not be needed or be too dangerous. |

I'm also struggling to work out the fascination to obviously watch something so sad and horrific in specific, full screen, slowed down detail.
The intent and point being? |

R.I.P. As a fellow biker I wish the best to the family and friends for their loss.

The biker rode into the back of the car and the impact threw him into the path of the van. Awful business, but no-one elses fault. |

Absolutely tragic for all concerned.
As an-ex biker I'm not sure I would have over taken at that point but that's easy to say. I can see the 'rights and wrongs' from both sides. All I will say is that unless you've ridden a motorbike and I mean a proper bike, then it's hard for non bikers to grasp 'everything' about bikes. Certainly DO NOT understand nor wish to understand why the video footage needs to be dissected ffs!! |

I think this video should be used to promote safe riding as there is an alarming increase in dangerous riders around London.
They need to realise they they are putting at risk their own lives and the people around them will suffer. and yes, there are bad car drivers aswell....but bikers are definitely worse and the consequences can often be very very bad....as shown by this video! |

The bike was doing 100mph at that point - thats covering over 44 metres per SECOND!, how can a car driver possibly judge something approaching at that speed. If he looked a second before he made the manouvre, the bike would have been over 44m away. The traffic was doing no more than about 40mph at the time, the bikes were doing 2.5 times that speed. Such a tragic waste of life but no one else to blame but themselves. I feel especially sorry for the van driver as he had no chance to react and the aftermath must have been horrific to witness. |

Perhaps bikes 'catch the attention more' because there are less of them. The vast majority of bikers I see nowadays are riding alot more sensibly than others from years ago including myself. Ok, there was less traffic about then but all the same these days, they do seem to ride more cautiously.
Anyhow, I'm not getting into a war of words with people who have never ridden a motorbike - been there, done that and worn the friggin T shirt out. |
