E90 330d LCI Remap @ AMD

Hi guys, has anybody here had a remap from AMD Essex on a 330d LCI E90?

If so, how does it feel?

Is it worth it?

I usually drive very carefully nowadays, just because I'm getting old (38 now) Anyhow, I also usually modify my cars, just to make them "Mine", so the 330d's gonna get it after I get a software update from BMW, just to make sure that any bugs have been ironed out.

I put my foot down yesterday just to see what it's like as standard, and they're rather beasty as standard, so I'm wondering whether the re-map's worth the money?

Thanks,

Vince

PS: I'm also about to put some H&S springs on her (30mm front/25mm rear) in case anybody can comment on that mod too?

I've had mine remapped and it is well worth the money. Also got H&R springs and I love the drop. Ride is decent despite running on 19s too.

I think they started off with VAG cars but they do quite a variety of cars there now.

I had my golf GTI mapped there and was well impressed, was faultess for the 2 years it was done, service was pretty decent too!

a remap completely transforms the car bud! you can specify the map to give you more of what you want like more response in low revs etc

when i had mine done felt like i was driving a completely different car! well worth the money!

no experience with AMD however

I had my LCI E92 330d remapped by DMS from 245bhp to 305bhp.

It was a brilliant map - smooth and very, very quick.

I would guess a DMS'd 330d would give my current Z4 35iS (340ps) a run for it's money to 60 at least !

I did find, however, that the power delivery of the std car at 6 to 60 and 15 to 100 was almost ideal and far more useable than the remapped car which was just, well, seriously rapid !

AMD's rolling road has a reputation of being 'generous' to say the least but the only person I know who had a map done there was happy (VW Golf GTi Edition 30) though he had to go back a couple of times to get it adjusted as it wasn't right first off.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. To be honest, I'm not after any crazy BHP any more, my boost junky days are over, I love the fact that I can almost get two weeks worth of doing over 300 miles to work and back each week out of one tank of diesel! (600+ miles) and that's "with" the crazy stupid traffic during rush hours around the M25 Kent region. It gives me more money to spend on the worthwhile things in life, like making my lawn very green and patch free!

come on, those of you with a decent lawn get anal about it, right?

Cheers Timp. Did the H&R drop eliminate the spongy cornering much, or am I going to need to the the anti-roll bars and M3 control arms too?

I've booked her in for the springs to be fitted tomorrow, so I guess I'll know tomorrow afternoon anyhow

I had issues with my AMD remap, ended up getting it taken off and OldGreySteve put a new map on for me.

This was on a 320D 2007.

Have had other cars done there with no issues however and they've always been helpful.

It differs from map to map. I have had ex-police 330d. It was remapped. There were plenty of errors under DME (engine module) but nothing would show on the OBD.

And then I had mine done by local chap who used Elite maps. I keep screening my car and not a single error.

So it varies from map to map. Some aggressive maps tend to leave codes hidden under DME module.
