I did replace the gasket, doesn't seem to be leaking as bad, but still leaking. So heat or something may have warped the oil line where it mates together with the turbo some, I am going to look into it some more. Have you heard of this happening before?

No, but I have seen bent flanges that cause it not to seat....are you visually seeing the oil come out? Not doubting you at all just want to be sure this is the issues and maybe it is also coming from somewhere else?

I sprayed everything off with brake parts cleaner and got all the oil off. I can see the oil seaping past the flange.

Its not making a seal, possible bent flange, get new oil line!

I had this problem with my rear turbos lower oil line as well, the culprit could also be the housing itself.

New gasket and oil line temporarily fixed the issue for around 2000 miles then it comes back.

The housing? That sucks!

After everything it is my turbo itself leaking oil into the intake and everywhere around it. I oredered a new rebuild kit and will be rebuilding the turbos when the kit gets here. I will take a few pics and post my findings and maybe some what not to do info, because I can't find much info on the rebuild process.

got the kits from here.

http://www.turbokits.com/BMW/535i/OE...uild_Kit/2028/

Which for me was a waste, got the turbos off and they look brand new inside. the oil in my piping was from the PCV and the OCC some how, because the oil was just in the intake area before the throttle body. I REALLY NEED TO WORK ON MY DIAGNOSTIC SKILLS. so after everything found it to be my oil filter housing gasket, I replaced it and everything was good for about a month. Now I am leaking oil from the housing where the oil lines hook up at. I replaced the O-rings but still leaking, I read that a lot of people experience leaks when an other than OEM filter is used. I used a Mann filter and the included O-rings, going to try switching them out to see what happens, but to me it doesn't look like it is leaking from the filter cap, BUT I HAVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE,

Bumping this old thread. My car was at the dealer for an oil leak for the 2nd time. It only has 16k on the clock. First visit was 2 months ago and dealer discovered an oil leak coming from the oil pan. Oil pan gasket replaced under warranty. One month later, I noticed oil drips on my garage floor. I drove the car to the dealer and they replaced oil gasket again. Oil dye was added to check for leaks. After their tst drive the due revealed a leak from an oil line gasket. Damn...thankfully I have a warranty and the dealer replaced both instead of just one.. is this s common issue? Why would this leak on a car with so little mileage?

intresting, don't know why it would leak at such a low milage, but then again with the 335, anything is possible. Im replacing the gasket on my rear oil return line this wknd and hope I don't get the same problems as people posted above. Im also switching from 5w-30 to 0w-40 mobil 1 to see if that will help with my leaky engine as well...

bumping old thread again.

I have this oil issue too, leaks from front turbo area. (OFH gasket and VCG just changed)
The turbos are new, maybe they were not properly installed?.. anyway aside from the oil
leak I also have heavy smoking when driving, does that indicate my (new) front turbo seal is fubar?..could/would this stem from the (presumed) oil line fault?

before looking into possible turbo leak, worth to inspect the breather hose.

Take the check valve hose off and inspect the valve in side the hose. Mine was stuck and not closing during non-turbo mode. It was causing engine consume 1 qt oil every 400 miles. How to inspect: look into the hose and flip the hose up side down you should see the valve flipper close and open if it, s in working condition.

I replaced the hose, it seems to have fixed the oil consumption problem. . Knock on tree..

that would have caused crank case pressure, the pressures would go to weakest point (oil drain)...turbo doesn't drain properly and burns oil.

I was running a boost leak test and pressurized intake tube (other one blocked), when everything was put back a huge amount of smoke kept coming for like 30 mins of driving, I couldn't see anyone in my rear view mirror ... turned out, the oil seal is weak and leaks oil into the exhaust turbine that damps the downpipes and results in smoke, I have since changed to 0w-40 and the oil consumption has gone down considerably, I'll wait till I smoke on 40 grade oil to change the turbos ... if you're using 5w-30, change to thicker grade

Top oil lines join together in between turbo and the 2 way fitting... 1 side joins the lines together and the otherside pushes into the block with a o-ring seal:

so your turbo-seals are worn?.. My turbos are new so they should be alright..although notning is for sure ofcourse...

the smoking and the leak could also be non.related..

why do you recommend thicker oil, when you reduced your consumption with the thinner 0w-40 ?.. did I miss something?
