Want a new job!

Whats up everyone

I just graduated with a managment and marketing degree and ive been working as a bank teller part time and at my father restaurant part time and i want to find something new. I enjoy working at my fathers restaurant and i hope to one day own my own business. but the bank teller job is horrible, worst experience ive ever had so boring so slow. Does anyone here work somewhere they enjoy or that is hiring? Give me some advice. I was thinking of getting my real estate license i figured its a good thing to have on the side.

Thanks
John

It really depends on your skill set. The place I'm working isn't hiring, I'm still per-diem and can't get benefits. Things suck right now as far as the job market is concerned. Keep the boring bank job until you find something better. Real estate prices are pretty damn low now too. That's not to say its not a good job, but they are making less than before as well.

What type of job are you looking for and what skills/experience do you already have? i.e. internships, etc...

the economy is so bad and everyone is trying to hold on to their jobs or go back to school. best thing to do like darkrom said is to hold on to your job or quit and work for your dad full time. Restaurant is hard work & long hours but the money is great!

I've been in the restaurant business my whole life doing payroll some managerial rolls taking control of any situations that may occur. Solving problems with customer. I've been working at this bank as a teller for 6 months they haven't really taught me anything out side off teller they don't seem to want me to be over qualified. Like I said I graduated with a management and marketing degree.

I thought about getting the real estate license just as a good thing to have my family owns some real estate I don't think it would be a bad thing to have on the side. It gives you access to auctions and stuff like that.

I work in IT, but it is only a per-diem job. Ends up being 30 hrs every week though, just a way to avoid giving me benefits :/ I am lucky to have it. Got an internship for the hospital I work at straight out of high school. No degree, I couldn't stomach the idea of more schooling and student loans.

A real estate license is never a bad thing to have, I just don't think the real estate business is booming right now. You can always use it though so why not other than possible costs. No idea what it costs to get your license at all.

So no internships during college?

Keep the bank job, work hard and if you find a position that you like at the bank, train for it, even if your off the clock-for free.
Do you want a monday-friday job where your home everynight?
I imagine working for a bank, your benefits aren't horrible, matching 401k and retirement pension?

Nah you have to buy one and make it your own: http://us.businessesforsale.com/us/s...-Massachusetts

Still not cheap, and obviously a huge risk.

yeah ive been looking at buying used thats the best way to go when it comes to a business. starting new has like a 25% success rate which sucks. only thing is when you look on that site and others some places dont make any sence there selling there buisness for 150k but they clame it makes 250k a year why would they sell it that cheap then they hipe up there businesses to be more than they really are. but i guess ill keep looking im still young and just nervous its wierd to be done with school im so happy to be done but im scared shitless at the same time.

Really...not in the healthcare division that I know of. We run this town. ha!

btw. I think this is normal with most companies during this time of year and current economic situation. You saw the market yesterday right?

Glad my company hasn't been hit from the economy, I guess we all use oil and gas no matter how expensive or what the stock market is doing....

How the hell can everyone afford to live in Boston, nice 2 bedroom condos in S. Boston, Charlestown and North End still go for >600k, not sure who is paying the mortgages on a property like that?
