Need help buying M5
So i tried to make a user name on M5board 10 ago and its still not
activated so i will ask it here I really wanted red leather with alpine white with a 6speed with all options but thats hard to find I am torn on 2 different cars Car #1 2008 M5 white with Red leather 28k miles with 6 months left on warranty Mods: Dinan stage 2 chip, Intake, Essieman Exhaust. Options missing: Steering wheel heat, soft close doors, rear seat heat, roller sun visors, rear sun blinds, no pass thru trunk and no seat AC Price 43k Car #2 2008 M5 White on black leather 42k miles No warranty Mods: Dinan stage 3 chip, Dinan throttle bodies, Dinan intakes, Dinan MAF, Dinan exhuast, Dinan 3.91 Diff, dinan pedals, Dinan front strut brace, 20" black asanti wheels new tires Options Missing: Soft close doors Price 40k At first i was sold on car 1 because it had red leather and the owner said it has all options offered in 08, but i checked on bmwvin.com and it was missing 7 major options. So now im leaning towards settling on black leather inlue of more options which should help resale down the road. Please help me make the right choice

I would highly recommend you get a M5 that is CPO.

I was going to buy a fedilaty warranty if i cant find a CPO
Finding a CPO with a manual with white with red leather or even black leather is like finding a needle in a hay stack

I'd be very scared to get a v10 that has obviously been driven enthusiastically with no warranty

Is adding the Aftermarket warranty from the dealer not the same as CPO, i thought if you added the 4 year 48k warranty from the dealer its about the same coverage as CPO
While not the same i was under the impression it was very close to the same

With all those mods on car 2, it might be safe to assume it was beat on a bit..
I say neither, unless its the NA V10 you really.. wait until you can afford a recent CPO (2-3 years old) in the future

The V10 has less problems then the n54 lol. I say go for it, and yes, if you find a reputable shop you will get a nice job done for 2k. Its the 1k jobs that look like crap.

+1 it's probably a good bet that any modified E60 M5 has been driven pretty hard…I know you're looking for some specific color combos, but if you can stomach a narrower selection I would emplore you to look into CPO. Those cars are ticking timebombs….beautiful ticking timebombs, but timebombs none the less.

Any high performance car without warranty is plain bad investment choice.

Shop with your head, not your heart. Keep searching until you can find a CPO'd M5 with the options you have to have. You may not find one locally but they're out there. Even if it costs $1K to fly out, inspect, buy and ship back the right car, it's worth it in the long run. Don't go the third party warranty route -- they'll find a way to weasel out of expensive repairs and on an M5, they're ALL expensive repairs. Get a CPO'd car so that you can drive and enjoy it.

no its not the same. after market warranty will try to screw you in every possible way, and your waiting time will be much longer as well.

I would get the Non CPO M5 and here is why:
42k vs 28k, the difference is 14k miles, and if this is going to be a car that you drive daily, expect to put on at least 10k per year. That CPO warrantee lasts for 8 more months, and the car costs more with less options. I would buy an aftermarket warrantee and call it a day. Keep the black leather. Red is sexy and all, but I agree with you on aftermarket upholstery. Unless you purchase full seats from another M5 and refit them into yours (not worth it). Most of the time, BMW will CPO a car with either their own warrantee, or a third party that sides with BMW. Ive had at least 4 offers to warrantee my 07 335xi with 66k miles with bmw encinitas.
