Here is my rear facing camera with a circular polarising filter to help and reduce reflections. ( Model: Roadhawk HD)

View from inside cabin

Front facing camera

View within the cabin from front passenger side, The camera is totally hidden from the driver position as its hidden by the rear view mirror. ( Model:Blackvue DR500 GW)

The benefit of the Roadhawk HD as compared with the Blackvue DR500 GW is its lower profile is being only 25 mm in height and 95mm long. The Blackvue DR500 GW is 36 mm dia and longer being 119 mm. So it is not distracting in the rear view mirror. I choose not to go for a 2 channel approach due to the poor quality of the video output (low bit rate).

A recommeded website forum for dash cams is http://forum.dashcamtalk.com/

I got the local dealer to install the cams they did an excellent job, even exceeded my expectations, they also installed the PowerMagic Pro adaptor to provide me with park mode capability.

I found an article recently regarding the placement of devices which have a visual display positioned on your front windscreen. Apparently it can be illegal applying a device within the spread area of your windscreen wipers. http://suction-mounted-car-cameras.blogspot.co.uk/

This must apply to about 80% of drivers which have aftermarket suction mounted Sat Navs on there windscreens!

Any possible warranty issues later if hard wired or has its own battery?

Hard wiring is actually quite simple. I had my road hawk installed into my e93, i've since removed it and put it in my new car. I did a how to for installing it into my new car but it is pretty much the same on the e90 platform.

To get the glove box out on the e90 you need to take the cup holders out.

Slightly off topic but thought I would try on here first.
Does anyone know if you can use the existing cameras in the front/back of the car and in the mirrors to record constantly like a dash cam would whilst the car is in use.
If so, can anyone recommend a DVR to buy for this or is there any other way it could be done/company that does it?
The car is a 6 series gran coupe.

I think the VicoVation Marcus 5 is best dual camera set, is expensive but two cameras are Full HD with WDR, this camera is also compatible with 128GB memory cards...

LDWS - Lane Departure Warning System (activated by GPS mouse),
FCWS - Forward Collision Warning System (activated by GPS mouse),

How many people have actually been caught up in an incident where they needed dashcams for proof?

I've never needed one and fail to see why so many people are so alarmed they feel they have to have one.

Half the videos on YouTube posted by people with dashcams often point out that they are often the ones at fault for mistakes rather than the opposite.

They don't often see it that way and get obsessed that the camera proves they are right, when often it doesn't.

Imagine: pedestrian gets into a car accident its your fault and you are obviously guilty and can even go to jail.

Now imagine something like this: you have car camera on which you can clearly see that the pedestrian was in a rush to catch a bus...

There is significant difference who is guilty of what, when you have prove recorded. Insurance companies knows this.

Do you wear a bulletproof vest when you leave the house?

I'd imagine you'd be as likely to be stabbed or shot than run over a padestrian.

The likelihood of an incident happening far outweighs the need for a camera in my opinion. Too many people are too paranoid.

A lot of the people who post videos on YouTube are often the aggressors. They feel the camera will prove them to be right, it usually is the opposite, so start driving in a manner they really shouldn't.

They do make many drivers behave arrogantly and aggressively.
