Advice on 18" wheels and tires

I just got a 328i Sedan and wanted to get some wheels and tires for summer and keep my regular wheels for winter.

Im not asking which one you think i should get but i actually want to know what's better for my car: 18x8 or 18x5.5.

Also as far as tire size and width i wanted something somewhat wide and short on the rim but i don't think ill be lowering the car any time soon.

Any advices?

Thanks fellas

Go with a staggered setup and use the 18x8 for the fronts and 18x8.5 for the rears. If you are going with 225/40/18s on all four corners, I would use 18x8s.

For E90 you can go 18x8.5 and 235's all around and have no problems. I'd do that over 225's all around. More overall grip.
