N52 Article
This may have been posted before, but I hadn't seen it until now. It's an in depth look at the N52 circa 2006.

Thanx, really interesting. Just wish I could locate something similar for the N53 engine...

No problem!
I love this kind of detail. The more I can get my hands on the better! I love to know the story behind each car I own. I wish there was more info on the development of the car, especially from the designers. A bit off topic, but if you all are interested in what kind of stuff goes into development, I'd recommend reading "All Corvettes Are Red" about the 5th gen Corvette. Those guys really had to jump through some major bureaucratic hoops to get that car out. |

I just finished reading through this whole article. I gotta say the section regarding the water pump really impressed me. Too bad the initial design of the water pump was flawed. It is pretty amazing that the computer can automatically adjust the cylinder head temperature set point based on the demands (ie. eco mode, power mode, etc) just by changing the coolant pumping speeds.
Very cool read! |

I was looking for a document exactly like this. I had a similar document for the 2.0T that was in my VW CC. I'm sure there's some differences compared to what I have in my 328i since this document covers the N52 in the 330i, but in general it has the kind of info I wanted to have and read more about.
Thanks!!!

So would the n52 information still be correct if I only have the 328i?

328i's have the N52 unless you have a SULEV car, in which case it has an N51 which is a slightly modified N52 with 3 stage air intake and some other minor goodies like a prem-air coated radiator.
