Still no creaking. Sprayed a small amount of Carbaflo on too.

I have a 2011 E90 335d and started experiencing door seals that creaked going over speed humps, etc.
So thankful for this thread. I, too, was thinking it was the inner door seals. But thanks for the kind folks who posted pictures and shared their experiences in this thread, my squeaking has gone away. I simply used dawn dishwashing liquid and water on the "felt upper door seal" and voila... door creaking vanished. I take my car to a 100% hand-wash car wash place who must use an all-in-one combination wash and wax. I think the wax component is causing my seals to get contaminated and encourage squeaking. So my advice to others with this problem is to try cleaning your upper, outer door seals first before trying a special lubricant or teflon tape. Cheaper and simpler. Worth a try! -Ed

I don't believe that a dish-washing liquid is the best product to apply on rubbers or plastics since it will remove all the fat and oils that the manufacturer has applied on them in order for them to maintain their elasticity and their good shape during their lifetime.
I also use the german product of 1z, gummi pfledge, but I can't really say that I am happy with the results. I ll go for the autoglym similar product or the fuchs carbaflo (i just watched the above video which seems to be interesting)

you can have a look at the attached article (it's a service information bulletin directly from bmw in 2006) I just found from my search in a colleague club. the only negative is the price of that material...I wonder if one could get it cheaper outside bmw cause the prices I found are extremely ridiculous
ps: it is mentioned that you should avoid applying carbaflo EDIT: I finally decided to go with the bmw's service information bulletin way, so I bought an anti-friction tape and I applied it on the upper surrounding roof panel (as mentioned in the sib). NO more creaking noises. i couldn't be more happy...finally!

I just came across this old thread on my search for a solution to creaking doors on my F10 which I have just bought. I notice some differences of opinion re Carbaflo with BMW advising not to use it? In any case I am having difficulty determining what they are currently using and haven't had much luck in locating a supply of Carbaflo.
Is there any updated information to help with my problem? Thank you |

An update for this.
The shop foreman at Peter Pan BMW recommended applying a small amount of Sil-Glyde from AGS (www.agscompany.com) to the seals when they start squeaking. It has been working great for me as well. Hope this helps. -Ed

Thanks Ed. I notice there's a couple of different views re Silicon. Some say yeah and some nay! Glad it's worked for you. It's been driving me nuts since I bought the car a couple of months ago. Work and holidays have prevented me taking it back to the dealer but I might as well try that first. If they can advise on products to use then great, but if not then I will experiment with the various solutions mentioned on here.

I've cleaned the felt part of the seal with dishwasher liquid, same with the corresponding part of the body of the car, dried with microfiber towel - and the car is dead silent. I'm the happiest kid on the block.
Thank you guys for sharing your experiences! It helped me solve this really annoying issue. |

After two weeks the symptoms returned - this time I applied technical vaseline to the felt elements. Silence again, we'll see for how long this time.

Hi. Does anyone know how to replace the door frame seals on the E92?
It believe it involves removing the kicker panel on both sides. I have no Idea how to remove those without breaking something. Would like to make a new post, but I'm new here and are currently restricted to create new ones. |
