Yea, I've heard there are plenty of Dealers that will sell to us new - you just need to track them down.

I'm just of another opinion (something my father taught me a long time ago when buying cars) - wait a month or two after a new model comes out, and there is alway, always someone who needs to move one that is loaded up with more options and accessories than you might ordinarily order for yourself brand new. This worked for me last time when I bought my 2001 330Ci, and this time with my 335.

I bought an RX-8 from the dealer at full list in between those two, and the depreciation almost killed me, so I'm going to try not to do the brand new thing again.

All of that said - I know there are some of us that are fanatical about their rides to the point where they want the car with only 2 miles...and I get that.

May I ask which company you sold your car to, so you could lease it from them?

Thanks

Hi Picus - I'm assuming you found this in my ucanimport.com guy's document. Smart to pick this doc up.

I called Queenston/Lexington, and they do not require a worksheet to be completed if that is the one you're using to cross.

Why Don't you give me $20,000 and then i'll give you $500...

Pay the $500 and be done with it.... Everyone whining about $500 is pretty silly when you are driving a luxury car. Yes i agree it is a cash grab, but look at the time your wasting trying to get around it. To get in good standing with my local dealer i think its worth it.

I agree to some extent, but if we can find an easy way from being fleeced, why not go that route? I had my US dealer run a warranty inquiry report and have it printed out on their letterhead with the service managers signature. I am hoping that will do it; it took me no effort and may save me $570.

I think that might be a bit of a stretch. I suspect that those with US purchased cars might come off as being second class customers. Of course there will be exceptions.

I'd agree with that. I was quite lucky that the SM at Budds is a younger guy, and was really nice when we spoke...he indicated he's do the same thing if he were in my shoes. Hopefully that keeps up. He did reiterate that they have a dealership policy that they only allow "dealership customers" to utilize Saturday service. That is, people that bought their cars from that specific dealership can bring in their cars for Saturday service - others who bought at other Canadian dealers OR in the US can't get the Saturday service. This is just at Budds anyway.

I guess I am lucky enough to have a relationship with most of the dealers. If anyone does have an issue with a particular service department shoot me a PM.

Just want to confirm, so when importing you pay 6% GST AND 6.1% duty?

Confirmed - get this book if you're thinking of importing - it's worth the whopping $9:
