HELP: removal of non-sport steering wheel

Hi All,

I have my m-sport wheel, tools, diy write-up, disconnected battery, etc. all set to go and I'm having a very hard time removing the air bag on my non-sport steering wheel. I stick my long thin flat-head screwdrive into the slots on either side and was hoping the airbag would simply pop out with some pressure but it doesn't. I've gently tried a few different angles, both pushing and pulling, but the airbag is not coming out.

Not sure if I should just keep pushing, go in at an angle, etc.

Any help appreciated.

'09 E90, non-sport (replacing with m-sport wheel and of course new airbag)

Thanks,
Howard

Exactly. Basically the instructions were to use a 20 Torx, go almost straight up through the slot till it stops, push inward...done.

Love the wheel. Combined with the weighted M-sport shift knob, I gots me a sports car now :-)

changing non sporting steering to sporting.

Hey,
I am interested in converting my non sporting steering wheel to a sporty one. I would really appreciate it if you can provide me some pointers and links. Also can you please provide me a brief estimate of how much would it cost me to do so.

I currently have a 2006 330i with non sporting wheel with the premium package related buttons on the wheel.

Thanks,
Vijay.

here's the link to the diy guide I used:

Except I had the non-sport wheel as you do so follow what I said in post #4 above and you'll be good.

All you need now is the m-sport steering wheel, buttons, trim and airbag. I got mine here in the classifieds. You can also find 'em on ebay and of course tischer (http://www.getbmwparts.com)

Good luck.

Howard
