painting engine cover

Hey guys I'm interested in painting various plastic parts inside the engine bay including my engine cover. What I want to know is:
Can you paint the engine cover with normal car paint or you need heat resistant paint? because some claim you need heat resistant paint and some say that they have never had a problem after painting their engine covers with normal paint.
But the problem is that the N54 gets hotter in the engine bay than your normal average car.
What do you advice?

Some of those painted options look good - but I sure wouldn't spend the $$ on a CF cover - only to completely paint it

2 coats of high heat then 2 gloss white. Sorry for the bad picture quality, hopefully the 2nd picture shows the color better.
