Starting Issue

So I've checked some threads on this problem and don't have a clear answer, so I have to ask again. My car is occassionally having hard starts and take 3 seconds to crank before it starts at times. I'm not sure if it's the engine being cold or because I haven't driven it in a few days. Other times it will start in less than a second. Is this normal, or is there an underlying issue...read things about the fuel pump. My car has 3200miles, 6MT, sport. Can it be the battery or the starter or is it normal?

: for crank

It is often the first sign that you need a new fuel pump. I reported to Crevier and they replaced my FP. I had intermittent long cranks too.

Mine has been showing symptoms for 4 months, I never get a CEL or limp mode.

It starts very fast from a cold start. If I restart after shutting it down within 15 minutes it starts very fast.

If I restart between 1 hour and 4 hours I get long cranks from 3-5 seconds.

I don't think the thing is ever going to break, it will continue to just annoy me forever.

Scott, why don't you just have them replace the FP? The wait is no longer an issue.

When the V2 procede shows up, I will probably do an un-install and take it in before putting v1 and v2 back on. That was the plan since early September. Not sure if I will just throw on v2 and wait until spring to take it to the dealer since it's starting to get cold out and I will probably just drive the car on Sat and Sun for the fun of it until the weather starts to turn better.

What's up,

Just brought my car in yesterday for this issue, I already knew what it was though, thanks to a fellow 335i owner. It was the fuel pump issue, your dealership should have them in stock since it is a known issue now. Anyway good luck. I'll be back to my 335 tomorrow, right now I'm rocking as 328, I guess I can't be to spoiled, at least i got a BMW
